Warwickshire began life in division one of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Champions with a fine 23-16 home win over Hertfordshire at the Canley Sports and Social Club, Coventry. Looking for a quick return to the premier division the ladies ’B’ got the ball rolling with a 4-2 win to put them joint top of their division. Last player on with the score at 3-2 was Tracey Edgecombe (19.78) who turned on a lady of the match performance to beat Sharon Cowell 3-0. The men’s ’B’ did not have such a good start as they finished on the wrong side of a 7-5 verdict after leading 4-2, and with two to play all square at 5-5. Top man for the ’B’ team was Kevin Taylor (25.18).
Sunday’s games saw the ladies chalk up another 4-2 win with the usual face of Trina Gulliver (25.78) taking the match award. Completing the fixture and taking the result in favour of the hosts was the men’s ’A’ who had a 7-5 success against their counterparts. With a 3-1 win over Mark Elliot and a great 31.58 average Nigel Heydon was acclaimed the man of the match.

The Brook Meadow Individual League is fast becoming a two way fight between Trevor Frost and Ross Macken. Frost, with scores of 180,4×140,110,3×100 and a 100 finish this week handed out a 4-0 whitewash to Mark Elkin while Macken, who hit 180,3×140,125,101 and 4×100 beat Adam Gallett 3-1. After playing seventeen fixtures Frost has 89 points and Macken 77, while third placed Jason Evans is a further five points adrift and has played one game more than the leading duo.
Ian McFarlane has continued his move up the table and has now taken over fourth spot after beating Terry Blakemore 3-1 in which he hit 180,140 and 8×100, he then accounted for Jake Smith with a 4-0 scoreline and chalked up scores of 2×140,138,121,115,114,5×100 and recorded a 12 darts game.

On the fixture card for the Sheldon and District Summer League was the quarter finals of their Mrs F.Richman Trophy. The round brought together the two top group one teams, Bromford Bridge Members Club an Saltley Amateur Gardeners, with the latter getting the 5-2 result. Group four’s Pavilions had a great and somewhat surprising 4-3 home win over Banbury Club who are currently top of group two. Another surprise came from Yardley Ex Colts (group 3) who won 4-3 at Castle Vale Residents Association (group 2). No surprise in the other game where Brook Meadow (group 1) beat group three’s Shirley RBL.

The Group Two Open Cup was on the agenda for the Pip Club League and in the first round there were wins for Globe Inn, Dolphin and Red Lion (Polesworth) who in turn defeated Wigginton, Royal Oak (Kingsbury) and Red Lion ’B’.
In round two Globe Inn beat the Dolphin and Hopwas Club, who had a bye in the first round took out Red Lion (Polesworth).
Mac Starling (Wigginton), Steve Crampin and Stuart Latham (Globe Inn) all hit a maximum.
