Wiggy 180 have certainly made a big impression in the first two weeks of the Pip Club League season. Playing in division two Wiggy 180 kicked off their campaign by handing out an 8-0 whitewash to local rivals Wigginton and have followed that up in the best possible way by returning from their travels to Red Lion ’B’ with yet another 8-0 success under their belts. Nevertheless, despite such a tremendous opening two games Wiggy 180 are only top of the division on average from Winning Post who began their season with a 5-3 win over Red Lion ’B’ and won their latest encounter against Tamworth Snooker Centre 6-2.

In division one Dolphin lead the field a 5-3 home win over Red Lion ’A’ giving them a maximum four points and a one point lead over second placed Queens Head who could only manage a 4-4 draw as hosts to Glascote Club.

For the second successive season Mitre have completed their fixture card in the Small Heath League and remained unbeaten. Two fourteen match seasons and maximum 28 points. They have bettered last season’s result insomuch as they have finished with 99 legs for and 27 against compared with last season’s 97 for and 29 against. A truly tremendous feat. Mitre could not have written the perfect ending for the season as they completed their programme with a 9-0 home win over the Victoria to give them a massive eight points advantage over their rivals .

Custard House with a 5-4 away win over Wagon and Horse finished a runners up with Victoria 301 Club level on the same 20 points but behind on average.

Last Sunday the league held their AGM and it was decided that the new season would get underway on the 18th September. The decision was made to change the league’s format and turn it into a “Round Robin”, whereby each team would play each other four times, twice at home and twice away.

Anyone wishing to enter a team into the league for the forthcoming season, or require any further information should contact John Young on 17973-228210. All entries should be accompanied by a non returnable minimum deposit of £25 before the closing date of the 25th August.
