Group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League produced a top of the table clash between Saltley Amateur Gardeners and Bromford bridge Members Club. Prior to the match both teams were locked together, level on games played, average and points. Not too surprisingly after the encounter that position did not change. The result was a 4-4 draw. Third in the table Olton RBL were unable to rake advantage of the situation as they also finished all square in their fixture at Shard End RBL ‘B’.

Castle Vale Residents Association won their group two game at Hen and Chickens 6-2, and that result has put them outright leaders of the group. Second placed Banbury Club beat RAFA 5-3 and that one leg difference is the margin by which they are second to the leaders.

Leaders of group’s three, four and five are respectively Shirley RBL, Vaughans and Sheldon Social. All three won to maintain their 100% win record. In group six Millhouse lead the field and did their cause no harm at all when they handed out an 8-0 whitewash to Bordesley Labour Club.

The Brook Meadow Individual League began their new campaign with a new format, no longer the best of three legs but now the best of four, giving player the opportunity to earn a draw should they fail to win. Reigning champion Trevor Frost got off to a good start by recording two 3-1 wins over Jason Evans and Jake Smith to put him in pole position with ten points. Frost’s nearest rival after the first round of matches is league newcomer Tony Cooke. Cooke, with 7×100, 140 and a 100finish earned a 2-2 draw with Gordon Clinton and then went on to beat fellow newcomer Clive Sadler 4-0.

In his 3-1 win over Matthew Gallett, Adam Gallett hit no fewer than three maximums. Other players to notch a 180 in the first week’s games were Jason Evans, Robbie Earl and Trevor Frost.
