The fight for honours is hotting up in the Four Oaks and District League as the season fast draws to an end. With just two league fixtures remaining Sportsmans Rest have opened up a four points advantage over Midland Red. Sportsmans had an emphatic 8-1 victory away to Old Oscott WMC, while Midland Red finished on the wrong side of a 5-4 result in their game at third placed Boot Flights.
In division two it’s another story as no fewer than three teams are level on 14 points. However, the three teams have all played different number of games. Leaders Red Lion Flights have played 10 games, Deer’s Leap 9 and Boldmere Sports 11, currently third on average. So Deer’s Leap with games in hand on their rivals are at the moment favourites to take the title.
Five players hit a maximum in the league this week, J.Tolley (Old Oscott WMC), J.Morris jnr (Sportsmans Rest), P.Allen (Anvil Nomads), D.Smith (Boldmere Sports) and A.Kimberley (Deer’s Leap). Plough’s S.Gow had a 160 break.
