All four fixtures in division one of the Four Oaks and District League finished with close 5-4 results. Leaders Sportsmans Rest won their home game against third in the table Boot Flights to remain two points ahead of second placed Midland Red, who won against Hill Social, current leaders of the division one shadow league.

In the second division Boldmere Sports retain the number one spot after a 6-3 away win at Bromford Lions. Red Lion Flights and Deer’s Leap are both just two points adrift of Boldmere and have a game in hand. Deer’s Leap won 5-4 at home to Barn Social, while Red Lion Flights had a bye this week.

Jason Evans consolidated his pole position in the Brook Meadow Individual League with two straight 3-0 wins over Keith Kelly and Alan Ashford. Carl Winters lost the number two spot after losing 2-1 to Mark Elkin. Taking over the second place is Ross Macken, who recorded a 3-0 win over Alan Ashford and got a 2-1 verdict against Bill Cadby.

Gordon Clinton had 2-1 wins over Robbie Earl and Martin Cooper and hit a maximum in both games. Other players to find the three treble twenties were Robbie Earl, Ricky Lawrence and Carl Winters.

For the second consecutive week Smethwick Labour Club have taken on rivals for the Harborne and District Winter League title, last week they maintained their undefeated run with a close 5-4 verdict over second placed Midland Red, this week, by the same margin they beat or J.Pearson on fourth in the table, the George. The Red’s kept up the pressure on the leaders with a 7-2 win at the Quinborne, to stay four points behind with a game in hand. Quinton Members Club are level on points with Midland Red following a 6-3 home win over the Pheasant and only trail behind the Red’s on average.

Bartley Green Social Club took on local rivals Bartley Green F.C. this week, the latter getting the 6-3 result.

The top two teams in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League, Olton RBL and Saltley -Amateur Gardeners played each other this week on Olton’s board, the result was a close 5-4 to the visitors, but despite their win Saltley remain in second place behind Olton.

In division one a 5-4 win against Ivy Leaf was enough to keep Shirley RBL in the top spot, but only on average from Stechford Social, who won 7-2 at Vaughans.

Yardley Ex Colts won 8-1 at the Millhouse to stay two points ahead of Yardley Ex Flights, Custard House and Small Heath Amateur Gardeners. Yardley Ex Flights gained a vital 7-2 win over the Small Heath Gardeners, while Custard House beat Sedgemere Flights 5-4.

In division one of the Pip Club League there was a shock for leaders Globe when they lost 5-3 at home to third in the division Red Lion ’A’. Dolphin won 5-3 at the White Lion to join Dolphin on eight points. At the other end of the division bottom team Tamworth Snooker Centre chalked up their first win of the campaign, a 5-3 home win over Queens Head.

Red Lion (Polesworth) lost a little ground in the division two title race when all they could manage in their home tie with Winning Post was a 4-4 draw. Top team Glascote Club now have a three points lead over the rest of the field, their latest result a 6-2 win at the Wigginton.

The Nags Head, Brierley Hill, is the setting for the first of what will be an annual competition, The John Westwood Memorial Knockout.

The format will be the best of five legs of 501, straight start and double finish. Prize money will be paid out to the last four players together with a trophy for the winner. Entry is £5.00 with entries accepted on the day of the event, Saturday 24th February, up to 2.30pm. Match play will commence at 3.00pm.
