This coming weekend Warwickshire County Darts Organisation will play hosts to neighbouring Staffordshire in what will complete two thirds of the nine match season. With just one win in the previous five fixtures Warwickshire will now be desperate for a win to help maintain their premier division status.

Jason Evans has increased his lead to four points at the top of the Brook Meadow Individual League. A 2-1 win against Trevor Frost followed by a straight 3-0 success over Mark Elkin has seen Evans chalk up a total of 43 points from ten games. Carl Winters moves up two places in the table to take over the number two spot, after two 2-1 wins against Dave Elliot and Brian Cooper.

Mark Birch and Bill Cadby were involved in a cracking game as Birch had top shots of 180,177,3×140,4×100 plus a 14 darts leg and Cadby hit 180,140,121,3×100 and he also had a 14 darts leg. As the scores suggest the result was a close 2-1, Birch just getting the verdict. There were also maximums for Jason Evans (2), Jay Murray, Trevor Frost and Dave Elliot.

The Four Oaks and District League have been busy with their league doubles knockout, the Chairman’s Pairs sponsored by Central Container Services. Playing at two venues, Barn Social and Red Lion, the winners from the former were A.Whitehouse and T.Kelly (Sportsmans Rest) who won the final against Deer’s Leap duo D.Wallace and J.Owen 2-1.

The final at the Red Lion was fought out between Boot Flights pairing C.Millward and D.Jarvis jnr who lost out by 2-0 to A.Stainfield and P.Cummings from the Sportsmans Rest to set up an all Sportsmans Rest grand final.

On the individual scene there was a 180 from P.Cummings (Sportsmans Rest) and a 160 break by M.Austin (Hardy Spicer).

There was a crucial top of the table clash in the Harborne and District Winter League when leaders Midland Red took on their nearest rivals Smethwick Labour Club. Prior to the encounter both teams were able to boast a 100% win record, but even home advantage was not enough for the Red’s to stretch their unbeaten run to a dozen games as the Labour Club just got the 5-4 edge to take them into pole position with a two points lead over the Red’s who drop into second place.

Worthy of note was a 149 finish by D.Hadley (Smethwick Labour Club) and P.Watkins (Bartley Green Social Club) who recorded not one but two nine dart legs in his side’s 9-0 win over Cock Inn.

The newly formed Small Heath Charity team recently took on the established G.U.L.P. Charity team at the Emerald Club, Small Heath. The result was 9-9 draw with Small Heath just getting the edge on legs as they won 22 to G.U.L.P.’s 21.

Dolphin have lost ground in the division one title race in the Pip Club League after losing 5-3 in a home tie against Three Horse Shoes. Globe are now the outright leaders, a 5-3 win over Tamworth Snooker Centre giving them a maximum eight points from four games.

In the second division it was a first for Royal Oak as they chalked up their first win of the campaign, a 5-3 home success against Two Gates Club. Despite their victory Royal Oak remain at the foot of the table, one point behind the next four teams.
