Olton RBL extended their unbeaten run in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League with a 7-2 home win over Castle Vale Residents Association. The win keeps Olton in pole position and gives them a six point’s buffer over their nearest rivals Saltley Amateur Gardeners and Brook Meadow.
Stechford Social lead the way in the division one, a close 5-4 success at the Hen and Chickens maintaining their two points lead over Shirley RBL. Small Heath Gardeners lead the field in the second division, a 160 break by A.Allden helping them to a 6-3 win at Golden Acres.
In the League Cup quarter finals premier division winners going into the semi’s are Brook Meadow, Olton RBL, Fordbridge Social and Saltley Gardeners. Division One winners were RAFA, Stechford Social, Ivy Leaf and Vaughans, while the last four in the division two knockout are Old Bill and Bull, Yardley Ex Flights, Farringdon Flights and Millhouse.
Winners from round two of the Punchbowl knockout are, Brook Meadow, Mackadown Social, Saltley Gardeners, Old Bill and Bull, Banbury Club, RAFA, Sheldon Social and Fordbridge Social. Glebe Farm Community Association go into the first round proper of the Sheldon Shield after beating Lea Hall Nomads 5-4 in the preliminary round.

Trevor Frost and Keith Kelly head the Brook Meadow Individual League on 27 points each, with Kelly just ahead on average and the added advantage of a game in hand. In the latest round of games Frost had a 2-1 win over Joe Hall, plus a 3-0 success over A.Ashford, while Kelly beat Martin Cooper 2-1 and then lost his game with S.Lysaght by the same margin.
Ross Macken and, Martin Cooper (2) were the only players to find the three treble twenties this week.

Sportsmans Rest and Midland Red, the top two teams in the first division of the Four Oaks and District League both recorded wins in their most recent fixtures. Sportsmans Rest remain top with 16 points after their 7-2 win at Hardy Spicer and the Red’s, who are two points adrift of the leaders beat Old Oscott WMC 8-1 at home.
In division two leaders Red Lion Flights beat Barn Social 7-2 despite a 160 break by J.West. Boldmere Sports kept the difference between them and the leaders at two points with an emphatic 8-1 home win over the Plough, whose S.Gow played with a broken wrist.

George, Midland Red and Smethwick Labour Club, the top three teams in the Harborne and District Winter League have all won their opening ten games. Only average separates the three teams, the George currently in pole position with Midland Red second and Smethwick third. Both the George and Midland Red recorded 8-1 wins against respective opponents Pheasant and New Inns.

After only two games Globe and Dolphin are the only two teams with a 100% record in division one of the Pip Club League. There were wins for both teams this week, Globe beating Hopwas Club 6-2, while Dolphin won

their home game against Queens Head 5-3, the one extra game win giving the Globe the number one spot.
A 7-1 win at Boot Inn has seen Glascote Club lead the field in division two, a 5-3 win over Royal Oak leaving Red Lion ’B’ one point adrift of Glascote.

In an effort to entice more players, young, old, male or female into their league the Small Heath and District League have changed their playing format for the forthcoming season, teams will once more consist of nine players, but each game will be 401 up with a straight start.

The draw for the quarter finals of the Bedworth Gateway Open Competition is, Men’s:- Volunteer (Peterborough) or Travellers Rest (Bedworth) v Kineton Social Club (Warwickshire), Fellowship ’A’ (Bristol) or Lamb Inn ’A’ (Telford) v Coventry Housing Club ’A’ (Coventry), White Hart ’A’ (Swindon) or Fellowship ’B’ (Bristol) v Talbot Inn (Worcester), Three Tuns (Banbury) v Royal British Legion ’A’ (Cambridgeshire).
The last four teams remaining in the ladies competition are White Hart ’A’ (Swindon), Rock Fountain (Shrewsbury), Air Balloon Tavern (Bristol) reigning champions and Plough Inn ’A’ (Staffordshire).
The grand finals will be staged at the Saunders Hall WMC, Bedworth on Saturday 24th February. Roll call at 12.30pm with match play commencing at 1.00pm.
