Midland Red rounded off the old year by handing out a resounding 9-0 whitewash to the Pheasant to consolidate their number one spot in the Harborne and District Winter League, and at the same time extend thier undefeated run to eleven games. Nevertheless, the Red’s cannot afford to slip up as both the George and Smethwick Labour Club are hot on their heels and also boast 100% records. However, the George and Smethwick have only played nine fixtures, two fewer than the leaders. In their latest matches the George chalked up a convincing 8-1 victory at home to New Inns and Smethwick Labour Club, who also played at home beat Harborne Stores 7-2.
Fastest game of the week went to Raven’s T.Hamilton, who checked out in just eight darts. Not far behind Hamilton was N.Bache (Smethwick Labour Club), who won his leg in nine darts.

The Four Oaks and District League had cup matches on their agenda. Two venues were utilised for the Ian Cooper Memorial Cup. At the Barn the first semi final saw Hill Social ’A’ take out Red Lion ’C’ with a 2-1 scoreline and by the same margin Sportsmans Rest ’B’ defeated their local rivals Sportsmans Rest ’A’.
In the final the Hill Social ’A’ team of T.Vickers, M.Rice and C.Vickers lost 2-0 to T.Kelly, A.Whitehouse and J..Morris, the Sportsmans Rest ’B’ side.
Top scores of 180 from the venue were provided by J.Morris (Sportsmans Rest ‘B’) and T.Tyrie (Hardy Spicer) whose maximum was his fourth in as many weeks.
The second venue was the Red Lion. Boot ’A’ won their semi final tussle with Midland Red ’A’ by the odd leg of three, but Midland Red ’B’ had no such problem in their encounter with the Acorn, which they won 2-0.
The final 2-0 verdict went in favour of Boot ’A’ team M.Norton, C.Millward and D.Jarvis jnr. Midland Red ’B’ were represented by P.Sands, B.Linnecore and G.Bushell.
B.Linnecor and G.Bushell both notched 180‘s, while M.Gaughan (Boot Flights) hit 177.
The two winners will now square up to each other in the grand final on the 13th March 2007.
