Warwickshire’s indifferent season in the premier division of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championship continues as in their most recent fixture, a home tie with Hampshire they went down19-17 their third defeat in four games.
The ladies ‘B’ began the weekend’s encounter, Helen Rigg (18.75) helping them to a 3-3 draw, but still seeking their first win of the campaign. The men’s ‘B’ team also finished all square at six each, their top man being Lee Harris with a 27.37 average.
Sunday’s games saw the ladies chalk up a 4-2 victory to maintain their unbeaten record which has produced two wins and two draws. Taking the match award was Trina Gulliver, who recorded a very creditable 27.18 average. The final match saw the men’s ’A’ go down 8-4, Tom Aldridge’s 32.10average earning him the team’s award.
Not a very good end to the year, however, with five more games to play there are more than enough points to play for to ensure Warwickshire’s position in the premier division, but wins are needed sooner rather than later.
