Despite a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Robbie Earl and Jason Evans, Ian McFarlane still leads the field in the Brook Meadow Individual League. McFarlane has a total of 106 points from 26 games, which gives him just a one point advantage over second in the table Mark Birch, who has played 27 games.

This week’s games provided some top class scores with Jason Evans in outstanding form hitting two maximums in three of his game against Carl Winters, Ian McFarlane and Brian Cooper. Keith Kelly was another man to hit two 180’s, his opponent Ross Macken also notching a maximum in a close 2-1 scoreline that went in favour of Macken. Macken then went on to play against Jay Murray once again he won 2-1 hitting another 180 in the process. Macken‘s third game was against Warren Rudd, which he won 3-0 and yes again he hit a maximum.

Other players finding the three treble twenties were Mark Birch and Robbie Earl.

After the opening two fixtures no fewer than three teams are level on points and average at the top of the Harborne and District Winter League. In alphabetical order the George are top. With 180’s from V.Gould and D.Simpson plus a 144 finish from Simpson they beat Old Mill 8-1. Pheasant are second following their 9-0 whitewash which they handed out to Avenue Social, leaving Smethwick Labour Club third they beat Raven 6-3 despite T.Hamilton checking out on 164.

In the other games Quinborne and New Inns recorded 7-2 wins in turn over Hillyfields and Stonehouse. Midland Red were 6-3 home winners against Bartley Green Social Club and Cock Inn defeated Quinton Members Club Flights 5-4.

Division one of the Four Oaks and District League have four teams level on six points after four games. An impressive 8-1 win against Anvil Nomads see’s Old Oscott Arrows in pole position, while Midland Red, who are just one leg of average behind the leaders won 7-2 at Hill Social. Third placed Boot Flights won their home tie against Sportsmans Rest 5-4. This was Sportsmans first defeat of the campaign and has seen them drop from first to fourth in the table.

In the second division Boldmere Sports extended their unbeaten run to four games when they won their home game against Bromford Lions 6-3. Deer’s Leap lost for the first time when Barn Social beat them 5-4, but they hold on to second spot level on points with the Acorn, who won 5-4 against the Plough and Barn Social.
