West Midlands got their 2006 / 2007 season in division three of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships off to a good start by beating Suffolk 19-17.
Playing at home at Gilberts Bar, Willenhall the Midlanders started the fixture with a 3-3 draw by their ladies ‘B’ team, with Chris Banks (18.56) taking the match award, their ‘A’ side were not so fortunate as they finished on the wrong side of a 4-2 result, their top lady was Leanne Jennings (16.19).
Both men’s teams won 7-5. Dave Robbins (30.67) was the ’A’ sides man of the match, Dave narrowly beating team mate Ian Jones (30.06) to the trophy, while Ian Hartland (27.33) took the ‘B’ teams award.
