There’s no change at the top of the Brookmeadow Individual League, with the two top players, Robert Earl and Gordon Clinton both chalking up a 2-1 and 3-0 win. Earl, who beat Peter Stevens and Brendan Lysaght leads the field on 82 points from 19 games, while Clinton, who had wins over Terry Blakemore and Pat Koyce is eight points adrift but has the advantage of a game in hand.

The Sheldon and District Summer League have been busy with the preliminary round of their Mrs F. Richman Trophy. Biggest win of the round was supplied by EBAHA who with a 5-2 result accounted for Victoria Social. Bromford Bridge Members Club representative N.Wells hit a maximum in his side’s 4-3 win at Vaughans, Gunmakers Arms and Pavilions won by the same margin at respective venue’s Sheldon Social and Yardley Ex Service Colts.

In division one of the Harborne and District Summer League there was a top of the table clash between the Raven and Midland Red. The fixture produced no fewer than fifty three figure scores with the Raven just getting the edge with 26 to 24. However, the most important statistic was the resulting 6-3 scoreline which went to Midland Red. Raven’s S.Passetti hit a maximum and his team mate P.Hewitt had a tremendous maximum break of 170. The Red’s are now in pole position on 10 points, with Smethwick Labour Club, who beat Hobsons Choice 8-1, second two points behind. Raven drop to third on six points.

In division two Coopers Arms are in the number one spot. A 6-3 win at the Pheasant maintains their two points cushion over nearest rivals Quinton Members Club, who also won 6-3 in their game at the Travellers Rest.

Bartley Green Social Flights have a four points lead over second placed W.C.WMC Ladies, following the match between the two teams in which Bartley won 6-3. L.Bevington (Greenlands) hit a 180 in his team’s 7-2 home win over Stonehouse Flights.

The first round of the Divisional Cup was on the agenda for the Small Heath Summer League. Winning their way through to the next round were McVeighs, Victoria 301 Club, Innisfree and Custard House, in turn at the expense of Victoria Flights, Station Hotel, Gunmakers Arms and Ward End Ex Service Club.

Darren Brown recorded a 160 break for his team Custard House.

Tipton moved another step closer to retaining the West Midlands Men’s Super League title when they handed out a 9-0 whitewash to Wednesfield. For Tipton Lol Frazer hit two maximums in his opening 2-1 win over fellow county player Mervyn Field and Dave Pritchard also hit a 180 in another 2-1 success, this time Joe Biggs was on the receiving end.

The Longbridge 26’ers team is largely made up of ladies and earned themselves promotion to division two of the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League last season. This week they gained an impressive 4-3 victory over Tascos Social.Biggest win of the week in the league was provided by Shenley Lane, in division three. Playing at home Shenley defeated Moseley Cricket Club by a massive 7-0. Close behind were Bournbrook Arrows who won 6-1 against Tascos Flights.
