West Midlands recent fixture, an away game against Humberside, in division three of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships, was one they really needed to win if they were to have any real chance of promotion this season and it was one that they could easily have won after the ladies, who have been the strugglers for the county in the past couple of seasons, both chalked up 4-2 victories, Angie Perry (19.77) and Chris Banks (16.84) taking the respective ’A’ and ’B’ awards. Both men’s teams were let down by their second half players as the ’B’ opened up a 4-2 lead then lost all of the remaining six games and the ’A’ after taking a similar 4-2 advantage had to be satisfied with a 6-6 draw, giving an overall 18-18 draw. For the ’A’ team Ian Jones (28.88) was the man of the match and for the ’B’ Peter Wyse (25.23).
