Nothing changes at the top of the Brookmeadow Individual League. It’s definitely a case of what leader Robert Earl can do second placed Gordon Clinton can do as both players chalked up another two 3-0 wins. Earl had wins over John Whitehouse and Paul Hogan, while Clinton accounted for Andy Williams and Gareth Lomas, leaving the gap between the two remaining at eleven points.

Maximums were few and far between this week with Robert Earl the sole player to find the three treble twenties.

Three Horse Shoes, leaders of group one in the Sheldon and District Summer League, were held to a somewhat surprising 4-4 draw this week on their own board by RAFA. Second in the table Saltley Amateur Gardeners were in fine form with N.Clarke and T.White hit maximums to help their team beat EBAHA 5-3.

Mackadown Social head group two and increased their advantage with the 6-2 defeat of Hen and Chickens while all their rivals finished all square at four each.

The match between Shard End RBL Flights and Banbury Club in group four was an high scoring affair as M.Topliss and I.Beattie hit maximums for Shard End and L.Reece scored 177 for Banbury. The match finished level at four each.

Tomorrow night the league will be staging the second round of their Mrs F. Richman Trophy. The full draw is Iron Horse v Raven, EBAHA v Mackadown Social, Shard End RBL ’A’ v Malt Shovel, Shard End Social v Lea Hall Sports and Social, Hen and Chickens v Stechford Social, Saltley Amateur Gardeners v Shard End RBL Flights, Three Horse Shoes v Bromford Bridge Members Club, Sedgemere v RAFA.

It was the battle of the Greenlands in division one of the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League this week as Greenlands Arrows took on Greenlands. The result was a close 4-3 to the latter.

Some big winners in division three as Bournbrook Flights chalked up a 7-0 whitewash in their away game against Moseley Cricket Club and another Bournbrook, this time Arrows beat Allens Cross Arrows 6-1.

On the individual scene there were 180’ for Kevin Cahill (Greenlands) and Phil Gossage (Stirchley United WMC), both in division one. While it was the third division that provided the highest break, a tremendous 160 by Vernon Witherford (Bournbrook Arrows).

The Globe took their winning run to four games in division one of the Tamworth Cue Sports League, when they had an emphatic 8-0 victory over Two Gates Club. Dolphin, who are on six points, two adrift of the Globe, were held to a 4-4 draw in their away game against bottom of the table Winning Post, giving Winning Post their first point of the season.

Red Lion ’A’ enhanced their position as leaders of the second division following their 5-3 home win over the Jolly Sailor and the 5-3 defeat of their nearest rivals Cue Sports Club at the hands of the Mercian team. In the battle of the Boot’s, Warton got the better of Grendon with a 6-2 verdict.
