Old rivals Red Arrows and Hobs Meadow squared up to each other in the semi finals of the Divisional Cup in the Forest of Arden Winter league. Hobs were out-tonned by their counterparts as Arrows hit seven to Hobs three. However, the all important 9-6 result went in favour of Hobs Meadow and they will now go forward into the grand final.

The George made it fifteen straight wins and in the process maintained their 100% record in division one of the Harborne and District Winter league when they defeated Smethwick Labour Club by a narrow 4-3. Hillyfields are second to the George. They suffered a surprising 4-3 reversal at the hands of the New Inns, who are currently second from bottom, leaving Hillyfields a massive eight points adrift of the leaders. Third placed Midland Red, with a 160 break and maximum score of 180 from C.Steadman beat the Raven 6-3 and despite being ten points behind the George can narrow that gap to four points should they win their two games in hand.

It’s close at the top of division two with no fewer than four teams on 22 points at the top of the table. Coopers Arms are top on average and have played one game fewer than their rivals, who are Cock Inn, Pheasant and Harborne Stores. Avenue Social are fifth just two points adrift of the leading pack, their T.Morton had a160 break plus a 12 darts game in a 6-1 win against Bartley Green Social Flights.

In the quarter finals of the Sheldon and District Winter league’s Punchbowl there were 9-0 whitewashes handed out by both Highwood and Three Horse Shoes to respective opponents Pavilions and Gunmakers Arms. Saltley Amateur Gardeners won through to the last four with a close 5-4 over St Annes.

In round one of the Sheldon Shield EBAHA were the biggest winners, a 9-0 success against Harvester. Hen and Chickens, RAFA and Shard End RBL all won 7-2, at the expense of Sheldon Shoes, Shard End Social and Sheldon Social. Glebe Community Centre, Vaughans and Banbury Club won 6-3, while Fordbridge Social just got the 5-4 verdict at Sheldon and Marlboro.

The league will be holding their next meeting at their headquarters, Lea Hall Sports and Social this coming Sunday at 10.30am. All teams should be represented.

The Small Heath Winter league have been playing off their Delegates Knockouts. Winner of group one was Kevin Maloney (Custard House) with Antelope’s John Young runner up. The group two title went to another Antelope player, John McCaffrey, who beat Ian McLean in his final. Taking the group three crown was Mark Birch (Heartlands Club), Mark’s final encounter was against Chris Stokes from the Victoria 301 Club.

Taking the ladies knockout tile was Mandy Rivers (Gunmakers Arms), with Sheila Carter (Antelope) runner up.

Tipton gained a convincing 8-1 win over Olbury in the men’s section of the West Midlands Super league. Oldbury’s solitary winner came in the shape of anchor man Wayne Armstrong, who beat Lee Jones 2-1 after trailing 1-0. Blakenhall returned from Willenhall with a 6-3 win.

In the ladies league Wolverhampton lost their home game against Great Wyrley by 4-1.
