Warwickshire will be playing hosts to Essex this coming weekend at the Canley Sports and Social Club, Coventry in the latest of their BDO Inter Counties Championships fixtures. Despite a maximum and an eight darts leg from Peter Brotherton, Midland Red Still finished on the wrong side of a very close and hard fought 5-4 result at the Hillyfields in division one of the Harborne and District Winter League. Raven were involved in a cracking encounter at the Quinborne and returned with a 5-2 victory, while Hobsons Choice had an emphatic 6-1 success at home to WC WMC.
In division two there was a 180 for A.Brooks (Pheasant) as his side gained a narrow 4-3 win against the Cock Inn.
Newcomers Old Mill had a 5-2 win over Travellers Rest, while Coopers Arms went one better and defeated Bartley Green Social Flights 6-1.

The Small Heath league have been playing off their doubles competition and the successful duo who have clinched the title are Steve Cain and Pat Koyce representing the league champions Heartlands Club. Cain and Koyce lifted the crown with a final victory over fellow Heartlands players Mark Kane and Brendon Lysaught.
Losing semi finalists were Chris Stokes and Mick O’Sullivan (Victoria 301 Club) and Neil Parsonage and John Hudson (Black Horse).

The Sheldon and District Winter league have completed round one of their Punchbowl, which saw 7-2 wins for Three Horse Shoes, Sheldon Dukes, Raven, Lea Hall Sports and Social, British Telecom Club and the Highwood. Other winners to go through to round two are, Iron Horse, Saltley Amateur Gardeners, Yardley Ex Service, Gunmakers Arms, Dovecote, Pavilions, Castle Vale Residents Association and St Anne’s, plus Malt Shovel and Victoria Social, who both had a bye.
The losing teams will join Fordbridge Social, Sheldon and Marlboro and Millhouse in the draw for the Sheldon Shield.
The draw for both competitions will be made on the 30th November.

In division one of the Longwood league, leaders Winning Post made it two wins in as many games when they beat Two Gates Club 5-3. They are the only team in the first division still able to boast a 100% record, second placed White Lion won 6-2 at the Red Lion ’B’, but finished all square in the opening game of the season and are one point behind the leaders.
Two teams are unbeaten in the second division, Queens ’A’ and Queens ’B’, with just one leg of average separating them. Queens ’A’ beat Mercian 6-2 and the ’B’ side won 5-3 at the Jolly Sailor, giving the ’A’ the slight edge in the table.
