Dawn Barnes had an impressive week in the mainly male dominated Belgrave Social Individual League this week. First Dawn took on Stuart Williams and chalked up a winning 2-1 scoreline. She then romped to a straight 3-0 victory in her match against Pete Guesford.
Current leader Steve Dwyer kept his title hopes on course with a 3-0 success over Ian Gould in which he hit two maximums and followed that with a 2-1 win against John Green to give him a total of 105 points from 25 games. Gould then went on to hit two maximums as he accounted for Mick Bagley with a 2-1 result.
Second placed Scott Mitton’s 2-1 victory against Derek Fardon keeps him in touch with Dwyer, just three points adrift with everything to play for.
Other players to score a maximum were Gary Mills, Derek Fardon, Steve Cain, Jim Williams and Gordon Clinton.

As the Sheldon and District Summer League is fast drawing to a close, although not all of the group titles are absolutely confirmed, the odds are that the current top teams in each group should take the titles.
In group one Three Horse Shoes are champions, a 7-1 win against bottom of the table Malt Shovel means they are three points clear of second in the table Saltley Amateur Gardeners with one to play. A similar situation in group two, where Glebe Community Centre are top on 11 points and their nearest rivals Hen and Chickens are three points behind, again with only one to play. Two teams, Dovecote and Lea Hall Sports and Social are level on 14 points in group three, but the former has two fixtures remaining, while the latter has only one.
Shard End RBL ’A’ cannot be caught in group four, but in group five it is still mathematically possible that Millhouse can overtake Victoria Social. Also in group six Banbury Club are still able to take the title away from Sheldon and Marlboro.
So a lot depends on the final games of the season to see who will be promoted and who will have to start next season in the same group as they did this.
