There were setbacks for the top two players in the Belgrave Social Individual League this week as leader Steve Dwyer suffered a straight 3-0 defeat at the hands of Mark Slater, who hit six three figure scores plus a maximum in his victory. Second in the table Scott Mitton was also on the receiving end as John Green defeated him by 2-1. Both players then returned to winning ways as Dwyer beat Mick Chater 2-1 and Mitton, with a similar result accounted for Ian Gould. Dwyer still holds on to pole position with 96 points with Mitton just three points behind.

Steve Hine and Gordon Clinton each recorded a 180.

Three Horse Shoes romped to a convincing 7-1 win against Saltley Amateur Gardeners in group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League. In the game between Malt Shovel and Sheldon Heath Dukes the visitors got the 6-2 verdict, but the honours were shared for maximums as P.Sinnett hit on for Shovel and J.Walker for the Dukes.

In group two K.Kelly (Glebe Community Centre) notched two maxi’s as his side chalked up a 5-3 win at home against Hen and Chickens. The only other player to hit the three treble twenties was I.Durrington (Small Heath Amateur Gardeners) in group six. The Gardeners went down at home by 6-2 to Sheldon and Marlboro Club.

Best game of the week went to D.Sutton from the Dovecote. Sutton recorded a ten darts game in a 5-3 win over Shard End RBL Flights.

Smethwick Labour continue to impress in division two of the Harborne and District Summer League. In their latest encounter they took on second placed Hobsons Choice on Hobsons board. The result was an important 6-3 win by the Labour club to maintain their 100% record and open up a four points lead between them and Hobsons, their nearest rivals.

Congratulations to Chris Malone and Dawn Barbier (Longbridge 26ers) who have won the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League’s Mixed Doubles title.

Malone and Barbier won their way through to the final stage where they faced up to Bournbrook duo Steve King and Barbara Andrews, their good run and excellent form continued and carried them on to victory.

On the league front Tony Corbett was in good scoring form for Newbridge Summer, hitting a maximum in his side’s close 4-3 success against Tascos ’B’.

Best win of the week went to division two’s E57 who handed out a 7-0 whitewash to Bartley Green F.C.

A reminder that the Warwickshire Darts Organisation will be presenting the Midland Open Darts Knockout at the Barras Social Club, Coventry Street, Coventry on Sunday 12th October.
