The Old Bill and Bull provided this week’s shock result in the Forest of Arden Winter League. Acting as hosts, Old Bill and Bull, with only five wins in their previous 22 outings, took on high flying Red Arrows (sorry about the pun), who were second in the table. The result was an amazing 7-2 verdict in favour of the home side, their opponents dropping to third in the table as a result. Newcomers to the league this season, Highwood Arrows, already acclaimed champions, completed their fixture card with 7-2 win over Cock and Hens to give them a total of 48 points, having dropped just four points and those were all to the Harvester. Jim Norris (Highwood Arrows) was in fine form as he equalled the league’s least darts with a seven darts leg. He broke with 112, scored 139 and shot out on the bull.

B.Salter (Stechford Social) recorded a 160 break.

Harvester won their semi final of the Consolation Cup against the Cock and Hens by 6-3 and will now take on Hobs Meadow in the final at Stechford Social on Tuesday 17th June.

Scott Mitton has begun the new season of the Belgrave Social Individual League in the very best possible way. After four games, playing against Jim Williams, Ashley Luckman, Mick Bagley and John Turner, Scott has won all four without dropping a single leg. Just two points behind Mitton is Derek Fardon, who also has won all four of his fixtures, but trails slightly on average as he has lost two legs, one against Mark Slater and the other against Simon Winters.

In his 2-1 win over Ian Gould, John Green chalked up a tremendous 164 checkout. Derek Mountjoy registered a 160 finish in his tie with Robert Mills only to see Mills get the 2-1 verdict.

With a 6-3 win at Bartley Green Social Club, the Raven stretched their opening winning run to four games in division one of the Harborne and District Summer League to keep them in pole position, Bartley’s T.Cutler hitting a maximum in the match. Midland Red are in second spot, they also have a 100% win record, but have only played three games.

In division two, Smethwick Labour Club lead the field with a maximum eight points, but hot on their heels, just three legs adrift is Avenue Social. Smethwick had a convincing 8-1 win at the Pheasant, while Avenue beat the Punchbowl 5-4.

A 180 from M.Warr helped his side, Coopers Arms to a 6-3 win over Bartley Green Social Flights to keep them in second place in the third division. Coopers are four points behind leaders Harborne Stores with one game in hand. Stores defeated Stonehouse 6-3.

The first division game between Yardley Wood and Stirchley United WMC in the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League was a real high scoring affair with C.Hickin hitting a maximum and B.Johnson chalking up a 160 break for Yardley and they were the 5-2 losers. T.Hill (Tascos ‘B’) was another player to hit a 180 as his side strolled to a 5-3 victory over Northfield Wanderers.

In division two J.Pearman and D.Logan helped their team, E57 to a 5-2 win against Kings Norton RBL as Pearman broke with 160 and Logan hit a 180.
