Old Oscott WMC were this week’s biggest winners in the Aston League, chalking up a 7-2 scoreline against Tennis Courts with the help of a 160 break from J.Morris. R.Earl (Heartlands) hit a maximum in his side’s 5-4 home success over Kings Ex Service. K.C.A, King Edward and Yew Tree were also 5-4 winners in their respective games against Hardy Spicers, Aston Social and Highcroft. Brookvale Sinners beat Mitre 6-3.

With only three fixtures remaining in the Forest of Arden Winter league, Highwood Arrows effectively made the title theirs this week when they beat second in the table Red Arrows 6-3 to give them an eight point’s advantage. Bob Nixon chalked up a maximum 170 break for Highwood Arrows. Third placed Highwood were also in top form in their 6-3 win over Three Horse Shoes, none throwing any better than Nigel Green who recorded a superb seven darts leg for Highwood, a 120 break then a score of 171 and double five.
Fourth placed Hobs Meadow won 7-2 at home to Farringdon Social while fifth in the league Glades returned to winning ways, beating Stechford Social 6-3 after losing by a massive 8-1 to Red Arrows last week.

The second round of the Bob Price Memorial Trophy was on the agenda for the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League. First division Greenland s Arrows were made to fight all the way for their 4-3 win by third division side Longbridge 26ers, Terry Cuff saving Arrows blushes by winning the decider. A Harvey (Kings Norton RBL) notched a maximum in his team’s 6-1 win against Shenley Lane.
Other teams winning through to the next round are, Greenlands, Bournbrook Arrows and Tascos Social who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to Northfield Ladies.

The Small Heath league completed their season when Custard House and Gunmakers played a rearranged fixture. Heartlands had already won the title and the runners up spot guaranteed by Custard House irrespective of the outcome of the final game. The result was a 7-2 win for Custard House.

Gate Inn hold pole position in division one of the Longwood league following their 5-3 home win over Queens ‘A’. Second placed White Lion could only manage a 4-4 draw with Queens ‘B’. Both of the top two teams are now on 8 points.
In division two leaders Two Gates Club suffered a shock 5-3 defeat at Three Horse Shoes. However, they hold on to the top spot on average over Mercian, who won 5-3 at the Plough and Harrow giving them a similar nine points to Two Gates Club.

A final reminder that the Canley Sports and Social Darts Open will be staged this coming Saturday, 17th May at the club in Marler Road, Canley, Coventry, CV4 8BU.
