Highwood Arrows recorded a convincing 9-0 win over Old Bill and Bull to consolidate their pole position in the Forest of Arden Winter League. With thirty points from sixteen games Highwood Arrows are six clear of the rest of the field. Glades who had a close 5-4 win at Hobs Meadow Mixes, are second, then comes two teams Highwood and Red Arrows who each have 22 points and also have a game in hand on the two teams above them.

Paul Norris (Highwood) hit a maximum in his sides win.

John Green continues to enjoy life at the top of the Belgrave Social Individual League and has extended his lead to eleven points. A 2-1 win over John Turner has seen Green take his points tally to 115. Gordon Clinton has taken over second place in the table following straight 3-0 wins over Jim Williams and Gary Mills. Mark Hollyoake has also climbed up the league and is currently sixth. Eighteen points behind Green, Hollyoake has a massive six games in hand.

On the mark with maximums this week are Steve Hawkes (3), Steve Cain, Ian Gould, Ricky Lawrence (2) and Mick Smith. Hawkes hit two maximums against Richie Baker and Lawrence hit his two against Steve Cain jnr.

The Small Heath League have been engaged in the semi finals of their KO Cup and Upside Down Cup. First in the KO Cup Heartlands recorded a 6-3 win over the Antelope. Joining them in the final will be the Brewer and Baker who with a close 5-4 result beat the Black Horse.

The final of the Upside Down Cup will be fought out between the Custard House and Gables Tavern. Custard House won their last four game against the Gunmakers by 5-4, Gables guaranteed their final spot with a 7-2 success over Ward End Ex Service Club.

Shannons are the Camp Hill and District League champions, with the Antelope finishing as runners up. The two teams figured heavily in the honours. Peter Yardley (Shannons) won the singles title with John McCaffrey (Antelope) runner up. The secretaries and captains knockout winner was Terry Burton (Shannons), his team mate O. King losing in the final.

For an entry fee of £5 (£7 on the day) there is a guaranteed first prize of £500 and runner’s up of £200. Cheques should be made payable to Canley Sports and Social Club and posted to the club.
