It was definitely a case of away day blues for West Midlands who headed north to Tyne and Wear and returned with their first defeat of the campaign, 17-19. Wins from the women’s and men’s ‘B’, 4-2 and 7-5 respectively, plus a 3-3 draw from the women’s ‘A’ left the men’s ‘A’ requiring no more than a 7-5 defeat for an overall win. Unfortunately they lost 9-3 however, they still head the promotion table with 121 points, nine more than their nearest rivals Gwynedd.
Taking the match awards were Darren Williams (‘A’ 28.42), Viv Gould (‘B’ 25.05), Kath Jenkins (‘A’ 17.28) and Teresa Johnson (‘B’ 16.39).
