Warwickshire travelled south to take on Hampshire in the latest of their BDO Inter Counties Championships premier division fixtures. A 22-14 win maintained their unbeaten record, which now reads three wins and one draw. Only the ladies ‘B’ failed to win and they finished all square at three each with Pat Thornton (19.65) their top lady. Both men’s teams had 7-5 wins, Mick Bagley (32.20) and Tom Ryan (30.58) the respective ‘A’ and ‘B’’ teams man of the match. Inevitably the award for the ladies ‘A’ went to Trina Gulliver, incredibly her twenty second successive award. The ladies ‘A’ recorded their fourth consecutive win and the third 5-1 in a row.

There was also tremendous news for the West Midlands in their local derby with Worcestershire in division three. Playing away West Midlands romped to their first win of the campaign, a 20-16 result. Jamie Parsons (25.52) helped the men’s ‘B’ to their 8-4 success, while Angie Perry ( 22.84) was the ladies ‘A’ top player. Ian Hartland (31.24) was in good form as the ‘A’ side shared the points in a 6-6 draw with thier counterparts. Only downside was that the ladies ‘B’ lost 4-2, Teresa Johnson (17.64) taking the match award.

Cock and Hens, without a win so far in the Forest of Arden Winter League, almost broke their duck as they stormed to a 4-1 lead against third placed Red Arrows. Unfortunately, they were unable to push home their advantage and Arrows fought back to clinch a 5-4 win. The leading pair Hobs Meadow and Hobs Meadow Mixes are locked together on 14 points each, with Mixes having a game in hand. In the latest round of games Hobs beat Mackadown Social 7-2 and Mixes won 5-4 at the Harvester. Old Bill and Bull had a useful 5-4 win at Solihull Borough Flights thanks to a 180 and 160 break from Paul Goldie. Kevin Gibbs (Highwood) also broke with 160 as his side had a 5-4 win at Stechford Social.

A 6-3 win at the Punchbowl has seen Highlander increase their lead at the top of the premier division of the Harborne and District Winter League. A nine darts leg and 180 from I.Butler plus a 180 from P.Blades saw Bartley Green Social Clun gain an impressive 6-3 victory over Hobsons Choice.

Weoley Castle extended their unbeaten run in division one with a 6-3 against Bartley Green F.C. New Inns were top scores with their 9-0 whitewash of Stonehouse, D.Beeston recording a 12 darts leg.

The Harborne 401 Summer League will be holding their AGM on Sunday 13th January at the league’s headquarters the Hillyfields, Quinton Road. All teams, both old and new are invited to attend the meeting, which will start at 11-00am. Team secretaries should note that all major trophies should be handed in at this meeting.

There was a clash of the Titans in the Minworth Social Individual League when two of the league’s newcomers and the current top two players in the table, Peter Allen and Mark Hollyoak squared up to each other. The result was a close 2-1 success for Allen to extend his pole position advantage to three points over Hollyoak. Allen then went on to beat Chris Forsyth 3-0, while Hollyoak bounced back with a similar 3-0 win over Andy Sheen.

Peter Allen, Rob South (2), Tony Randell. Richie Shenton, Steve Hawkes (2), Gary Mills, Trevor Frost (3), Chris Forsyth and John Ainsworth (2) all hit maximums.

A 2-1 win over Lance Thompson keeps Richie Shenton in pole position in the Sportsmans Rest Double Top Leaue with 124 points. Second placed Dave Platt played and won three games, beating Kevin Platt 3-0 and Steve Hine and Steve Cain 2-1 to remain four points adriftof Shenton, but still with a game in hand.

Hitting 180’s this week were David Platt (2), John Ainsworth, Steve Hine, Paul Cummings (3), Richie Shenton, Kevin Platt and Steve Cain.

There were impressive wins for the top two teams in the Small Heath Winter League as leaders Saltley Flights won 7-2 against the Black Horse, Alan Caddick recording a maximum 170 break for Saltley and second in the table Sheldon Heath Flights beat Ward Ens Ex Service Club 8-1. Best win of the week must surely go to Custard House ‘B’ who in their sixth game of the season chalked up their first win, a 5-4 success against the Red Devils, Colin Wyatt checking out on 136 for the Custard House.

Red Lion ‘A’ (Wilnecote) closed the gap on Longwood Winter League division one leaders Three Horse Shoes when they beat them 5-3, Shoes first defeat of the season. Lion now trail by one point with a game in hand. That was certainy not the case in the second division as top team Railway, with 19 points, beat Progressive Club 5-3 and their nearest rivals, Plough and Harrow went down by the same scoreline at the Mercian and are now eight points adrift of the Railway.
