In the final fixture of the season in the premier division of the BDO Inter Counties Championship Warwickshire fighting for survival took on fellow strugglers and neighbours Staffordshire. The result was a 6-6 draw. Both men’s teams finished all square with Nick Gedney (30.60) taking the ‘A’ teams award, Moe Whelan and Richie Shenton both had a 28.36 average and shared the ‘B’ match award.
The ladies ‘B’ went down 4-2, Sue Deery (19.67) lady of the match, while the ‘A’ side won 4-2. For the eighteenth consecutive match, two whole seasons Trina Gulliver was the ‘A’ side’s top lady. But to bring the curtain down on the season Trina produced something really special. She won 3-0 against Sharon Kirk, which when she chalked up an amazing 34.95 average per dart is not surprising. Trina’s average was by far the best of the weekend, and that is including the men’s games.
