With four fixtures remaining, Hobs Meadow require just one more win to secure the Forest of Arden Winter League title. A 7-2 success at the Cock and Hens put Hobs within two points of the championship.

Terry Price was in fine form for the Harvester as they beat Stechford Social 5-4. Price, in addition to his maximum chalked up two breaks of 120 and one of 115as he defeated Dave James 2-1, after James had won the opening leg. Both Silver Wings and Red Arrows had close 5-4 verdicts in their respective away games against Mackadown Social and Hobs Meadow Mixes.

There was a top of the table clash in the premier division of the Harborne and District Winter League, bringing together leaders Lickey Banker and second placed Bartley Green Social Club. Despite a 180 from T.Corbett (Lickey Banker) the 5-4 result went in favour of Bartley Green. D.Smith was another player to hit the headlines and finish on the losing side as he recorded a 160 break and his team, Hillyfields, went down 7-2 to the George.

A 6-3 win over Stores ‘B’ saw Highlander continue their winning form and hold on to pole position in division one, while in the third division there was another top of the table clash with Village Stump and Bartley Green Social Flights. A 5-4 victory by Flights see’s them confirmed as champions of the division.

The 2001 campaign of the Harborne 401 Summer League got off to a cracking start with the two top teams from last season’s division one squaring up to each other in the curtain raiser. Reigning champions Midland Red played hosts to the George, the match containing no less than 54 scores of a ton or over. For the home team M.Hollyoake scored a maximum plus a 12 darts game and P.Brotherton a 160 break. For the visitors A.Stevens hit a 180 and E.Simpson broke with 160. But the all important 6-3 result went Midland Red. T.Byrne (Ladywood Social) also broke with 160 as his side defeated late entry to the league Hobsons Choice 8-1.

In division two Kings Highway started the season not only with a 180 from L.Emmery and a 12 darts leg from J.Archer but also a convincing 8-1 win against the Coronation Club whose R.Vann broke with 160.

The Sheldon and District Winter League have made the draw for the semi finals of their Divisional League Cup. Premier Division: St Annes v Stechford Social, EBAHA v Iron Horse, Division One: Brook Meadow v Glebe C.C, Malt Shovel v Lyndon Arrows, Division Two: Millhouse v Hobs Meadow, Lea Hall RBL v Sheldon Shoes. All matches to be played Thursday 12th April.

The Sheldon and District Summer League will be holding their AGM at Lea Hall RBL on Sunday 1st April at 10-30am. Anyone wishing to enter a team for the forthcoming season should be represented. It’s as you were at the top of division one of the Longwood Winter League as the top two teams Dolphin and White Lion ‘A’ in turn recorded 5-3 wins against Mercian and Three Tuns. Dolphin are top with 19 points, White Lion are two points adrift. In the second division it was a similar story as leaders Railway handed out an 8-0 whitewash to the Hopwas Club to give them 21 points. Second placed Two Gates Club on 19 points beat the Jolly Sailor 5-3.
