It’s been a busy week for our local league’s with many of them completing their various finals as the winter league’s gradually draw to a close.

Silver Wings representatives Chris Busby and Jim Gilfoyle are the new men’s doubles champions. After beating Mick Hussey and Steve Kiley (Cocks and Hens) in the last eight they then took out the much fancied pairing of Tom Keating and Colin Henn who also play for the Silver Wings. The final opposition was provided by Highwood’s Paul Richardson and Chris Lucas, but they were unable to stop the Wings pair winning 2-0.

The ladies doubles was won by Claire Barber and Noreen Harris from the Hobs Meadow. It was a close final with Jeanette Mulholland and Jane Hall (Red Arrows) taking them the full three legs distance. The winners had defeated Alice Malin and Pat Parker (Old Bill and Bull) in the semi’s, while Julie and Jeanette James had lost to the runners up.
