P.Milmore (Highwood) was in fine form as he broke with 112, hit a maximum and recorded an eight darts leg in his team’s 7-2 win at the Old Bill and Bull. Highwood are now on ten points similar to Silver Wings, who lost 7-2 to, another team with ten points Mackadown Social. Hobs Meadow still lead the field on twelve points. Playing at home they chalked up a convincing 7-2 success against the Cock and Hens. After a shaky start to the campaign, Red Arrows appear to have settled down and had an important 6-3 win over Hobs Meadow Mixes to draw level on the same eight points as them.

Trevor Frost was in superb form in his tie with Dave Shorthouse in the Bass Breweries sponsored Minworth Social Individual League. Trevor hit 180,2×140,135,100 and checked out on 119 as well as recording a 15 darts leg in his 2-1 win to knock Shorthouse off the top of the table. Pat Koyce is the new leader, a 2-1 win against Karl Stephens plus a 3-0 victory over Gordon Clinton in which both players notched a 180 gives Koyce a total of 42 points one more than Shorthouse and Tony Randell.

Richie Shenton was in a scoring mood as he hit 2×180 in his 3-0 win over Dennis Stokes and another in a 2-1 success against Steve Shenton. Other players to hit the top score were Winnie Chinn, Gordon Clinton (2) and Pat Koyce. Rob South had a 156 game shot and Steve Shenton was just one behind with a 155 finish.

The first round of the Knockout Cup was on the agenda for the Small Heath Winter League. Black Horse had a terrific 6-3 win over the Custard House, while Sheldon Heath Flights were involved in a close 5-4 affair with Saltley Flights with the former just getting the verdict. M.Nunn (Saltley Flights) had a 160 break.

The league have started a “Lotto Game” this season and the result of the first draw was: 1st No 28 receives £33.50 (serial No AG213157), 2nd No 41 receives £20.00 (serial No AH864265), 3rd No 51 receives £13.50 (serial No AH864265).

There were a couple of shocks in the premier division of the Harborne and District Winter League. First and foremost was the 5-4 win by Lickey Banker who brought to an end the unbeaten run of Bartley Green Social Club.One man to play well for the losers was S.Riddick, not only did he break with 160 he also scored 180. Raven provided the other surprise, a similar 5-4 win against Midland Red. J.Meredith ((Ladywod Social) hit a maximum in his side’s 8-1 win at home to Stonehouse, while a nine darts leg from T.Thomas (Hillyfields) was not enough to avoid a 7-2 defeat at the George.

W.C.WMC hold on to top spot in division one after their 6-3 win against the Golden Cup. Another team chasing pole position, Harborne Stores had the same margin win against New Inns. There was a top of the table clash in division two with Bartley Green Social Flights emerging as 6-3 winners over Village Stump.

Good news for Bromford in division one of the Four Oaks and District League they chalked up their second win of the season when they beat Boldmere Settlers 5-4. S.S.Mary and Johns took on division two leaders Good Hope and for the second consecutive week were two players short. Nevertheless they earned a very creditable 5-4 result.

Winning their way through to the next round of the league’s Brian Goodman Knockout are Midland Red, Boldmere Settlers, Castle Vale, Boldmere Mixed, M.E.B, Drakes Drum and Safe Harbour. Anvil had a bye. In the Coronation Shield the winners were Old Oscott WMC, M.E.B, Mile Oak, Good Hope, Safe Harbour, Midland Red, Castle Vale and S.S.Mary and Johns.
