Congratulations go to Dave Shorthouse who after playing 29 games in the Bass Breweries sponsored Minworth Social Individual League has secured 116 points and in the process won the league title. Dave finished his fixture card with a superb 3-0 win over Tony Whitehouse, but then in the final game lost by the same scoreline to a very in form Colin Farrington who in addition to hitting 2×140 and 2×100 notched a maximum and checked out on 115. Farrington also hit a 180 in his 2-1 success over Steve Cain.
Runner up Gary Mills ended up five points adrift of Shorthouse and just one point ahead of last seasons champion Alan Grainger who had made a late bid for this season’s title.
Shorthouse then went on to make it a fabulous double when he beat Rob South 6-2 to clinch the doubles title, emulating the feat of Alan Grainger last season. Shorthouse beat Steve Parry 5-3 in the semi’s while with a 5-1 result South accounted for Ian Humphries.
Alan Grainger did gain some consolation in that he and Tony Pedley teamed up and won the doubles competition. They lifted the title with a final 6-3 victory over Gordon Clinton and Karl Stephens. Losing semi finalists were Tony Whitehouse and Alan Mayell, who lost to the champions and Steve Cain and Brian Brooks.
The new season will get underway on the 4th October with the presentation on Saturday 14th October at Minworth Social.

Two teams, Custard House Bar and Black Horse are locked together on 18 points each at the top of the Small Heath Summer League. Custard House Bar, who have the superior average lead the field and chalked up an impressive 7-2 win against Sheldon Heath Flights who are only two points adrift of them. Another team to lose ground in the title race was McDwyers who suffered a 7-2 setback at the hands of the Saltley Flights outfit.
Black Horse went one better with an 8-1 success in their encounter with bottom of the table Red Hill.
The Bear stay locked on two points with Red Hill after their 6-3 defeat by the Victoria Club.
