The first round of the Knockout Cup was on the fixture card for the Harborne 401 Summer League. 160 breaks were recorded by Midland Red’s K.Harding and T.McGlone as they romped to a 9-0 victory over Bartley Green Social Flights. Despite a 180 by S.Melville, Raven Ladies were still on the wrong side of a 9-0 result. Cock Inn, Bartley Green Social Club and Lickey Banker were 7-2 winners against Golden Cup, Village Stump and Stonehouse. Steve Riddick (Bartley Green Social Club) was another player to break with 160.

Highlander Ladies, Coronation Club and Harborne Stores progressed to the next round at the expense of Stonehouse Ladies, Bartley Green FC and Hobsons Choice.

There were convincing 7-2 wins for Black Horse and McDwyers in the Small Heath Summer League as they accounted in turn for Red Hill and Saltley Flights.Custard House finished on the right side of a 6-3 scoreline in their fixture with Sheldon Heath Flights.

Both E.Davison (Black Horse) and T.Randell (Custard House) broke with 160.

A reminder that there is a league meeting this coming Sunday at 11-00am. All entries for the Delegates Knockout and Ladies Singles, which will be played on the 27th June, should be handed in. Also the Jimmy Manning Single Knockout to be played on the 4th July. Players will not be allowed to play if their entry fee has not been paid.

Lesley Newcombe was on the mark again for Sutton in the Irish Centre Four a Side Ladies League hitting her second maximum of the season plus 4×100,125 and 140 in her team’s 15-6 win over Acocks Green. Selly Park were 12-9 winners against Yardley.

Vicky Edwards continues to lead the field in the Birmingham Ladies Double Top League on 34 points. Vicky’s latest success was a 2-1 win over fourth placed Angie Bourne. Reigning champion Joyce Webster has moved up into second place on 26 points after her 2-1 wins against Angie Bourne and Jeanette James.

Rob South with 58 points is the new leader of the Bass Breweries sponsored Minworth Social Individual League following his 3-0 win against Tim Ryland and despite his 2-1 defeat at the hands of Ian Humphries who lies in third place on 55 points. Dave Shorthouse is second on 56points he hit a maximum in his 3-0 win over Joe Else who also found the three treble twenties. Gordon Clinton and Tony Randell were two other players to notch a maximum, but with different results. Clinton had a 3-0 victory against Brian Brooks while Randell suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Alan Grainger, the reigning champion.

Congratulations to John Pears on winning both the Jubilee Cup and the Vice Presidents Round Robin competition in the Sheldon and District Winter League.

In the Jubilee Knockout Pears defeated Ron Crawford, Alan Pears and Alan Mayell before meeting Bob Mason in the final who he beat in straight two legs. To claim the Presidents title he won all three of his games against A.Price, P.Goldie and T.Cooke.
