Greenlands turned on the style in division one of the Harborne 401 Summer League, when with a 160 break from K.Beard they whitewashed Stonehouse 9-0.Despite a 180 from D.Leadbetter, Hillyfields went down 6-3 at home to Stonehouse Nomads, while Midland Red won a cracker of a match against Bartley Green Social Club by 5-4.
In division two newly promoted Highlander chalked up a convincing 8-1 win over the Golden Cup. G.Grant (Avenue Social) broke with 160 as his team fought back from a 4-1 deficit to snatch a 5-4 victory over the Coronation Club whose M.Musto hit a maximum. M.Bathurst (Lickey Banker) also scored a 180 in his teams 5-4 defeat at the hands of the Bartley Green Social Flights outfit.
Highlander Ladies recorded a brilliant 5-4 win against Travellers Rest in division three. Harborne Stores also hit top form as they, with a 6-3 result, accounted for Bartley Green F.C.

For the second successive year Susan Evans is organising a darts marathon at the Banbury Club. Last year’s event came about by the fact that a former captain of the club had suffered a stroke. The marathon raised a fabulous £1100 for the Stroke Unit at Yardley Green. This year all proceeds will go in aid of Multiple Sclerosis at the Heartlands Hospital.
The 24 hours marathon will take place at the club on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th May with play commencing at 8-00pm. The players and organisers are hoping to beat last year’s total, so why not drop in and not only watch some top class darts but support a very worthy cause in the process.

Congratulations to Joyce Webster who has successfully defended her South West Birmingham Clubs Winter League Singles title. Joyce’s final victory came with her win over Sharon Darragh. However, she was not so fortunate in her defence of the doubles title as she and her partner Angie Bourne lost at the last hurdle to Brenda Bullock and Barbara Andrews. Nevertheless a win in the singles and runner up in the doubles is not bad by anyone’s standards.

It was definitely not a case of “Home Sweet Home” in the Amber Windows League this week as all of the hosts lost. Vauxhall Social lost by a massive 8-1 to Bagot Arms while Lyndhurst and Aston Social both finished on the wrong side of 6-3 scorelines to respective opponents Yew tree Colts and the Woodman. 5-4 was the margin by which the Mitre, Seventh Trap and K.C.A. lost, Old Oscott Social, King Edward 7th and Heartlands their victors.
On the individual scene P.Koyce of the Bagot Arms had a 160 break.

The Bass Breweries and Bristan Ltd sponsored Minworth Individual League got their new campaign off with a high scoring start with no less than six maximums being recorded in the very first week. S.Cain, in his fixture with T.Randall hit TWO 180’s plus 140,125 and 4×100. Randall in turn had 2×140,135,4×100 and a thirteen darts leg. Other players hitting the top score were W.Chinn, J.Gilbert, A.Grainger and G.Clinton.
Reigning champion A.Grainger began his title defence with a cracking 2-1 win over G.Mills, in which Grainger hit 180,140,125,2×100 and checked out on 109. In his second encounter against C.Packer he hit a further 6×100, but it was not enough to avoid a 2-1 defeat.
