The South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League will be holding their annual presentation dance on Friday 12th November. The event will be staged at Tascos Social Club with an 8-00pm start. Tickets at £2.00 each can be purchased on the door. League secretary Carol Twigg as suggested that a raffle prize from each team would be gratefully received.

Sheldon gained an impressive 18-3 victory over bottom of the table Sutton in the Irish Centre Four a Side Ladies League to take them into second place on 71 points. However they are still twelve points adrift of the leaders, Selly Park, who also had a convincing win, 14-7 against Acocks Green. Terri Bellamy hit a maximum for Selly Park while Sheldon’s Debbie Flynn recorded the league’s biggest checkout so far, 118.

After completing just two fixtures in the Forest of Arden Winter League ony two teams remain with a 100% record. Reigning champions Red Arrows followed up their win over Silver Wings with a 7-2 success at Hobs Meadow Mixes. Stechford Social who were awarded a 5-0 result last week due to Mackadown failing to turn out, had a 7-2 win at the Red Rooster. It looks as if Hobs Meadow captain, Les Wheeler will have to have a few words with Birmingham’s Karen Brady. Because the Blues were playing at home against Newcastle, Hobs were left with two players short and went down 5-4 at Silver Wings.

In the premier division of the Harborne and District Winter League the George, with 160 breaks from S.Heeley and V.Gould, returned with a convincing 9-0 result. R.Mason (Bartley Green Social Club) was another player to break with 160, his team, however were not so fortunate as they lost 6-3 at Ladywood Social.

Yet another 160 break, plus an eight darts leg from T.Heath in division one when his team, Hillyfields ‘B’ lost at home, 7-2 to the Stonehouse. Hillyfields ‘A’ were 5-4 away winners against an unlucky Hobsons Choice.

Birmingham Vauxhall’s push for honours in the Warwickshire Men’s Super League continues as they chalked up a 5-3 victory at Coventry Bishopsgate. Three teams remain unbeaten, Bedworth Bank’s, Tamworth and Birmingham Midland Red. All three teams extended that run, Bedworth finishing all square at home to Coventry Howitzers, Tamworth won 7-1 at Coventry Potters Green and Midland Red had a 6-2 success at Rugby.

Fastest game of the week in the Sheldon and District Winter League was supplied by E.Davison in division two. Playing at home for Gables Tavern, Davison chalked up an eight darts leg as his side won 7-2 against Glebe Community Centre, his team mate, G.Mullinger scored a maximum.

Mackadown Social, in division one had a fine 7-2 win at Silver Wings, C.Vann having a 160 break and a nine darts leg, together with D.Young’s ten darts game. R.Peace (Fordbridge Social) was another player to record a nine darts leg, as his team lost their premier divison game with Stechford Social 5-4. Another player to finish on the losing team was T.Bellamy. Playing for Sheldon Heath Social Dukes, Bellamy hit a 180, the Dukes lost 6-3 to St Annes.

The league will be taking on the Sports Argus Charity Team on Friday 12th November. The team will be selected from M.Birch (EBAHA), S.Boston, B.Cadby (Shard End Social), M.Cooper (Roster Arrows), T.Cooke (Chelmsley Wood RBL), B.Cowie, F.Keye (Smiths Wood Snooker Club), D.Fardon (Lyndon Arms), M.Hicks (Sheldon Heath Social Dukes), W.Mathews (Three Horseshoes), M.Noonan (St Annes), J.Pears, T.Randell (Saltley Amateur Gardeners).
