Red Arrows, champions of the Forest of Arden Winter League, finished the season on a high winning 5-4 at the Heart of England, despite a 180 for the hosts by Mark Clayton. Arrows were six points ahead of their nearest rivals and last season’s champions Hobs Meadow, who ended their campaign with a defeat. With only six players Hobs went down 5-4 at Hunters Moon, but nevertheless it was enough to give them the runners up spot. Hobs Mick Gorste was another player to hit a maximum in the final game of the season he also recorded a nine darts leg.

The league averages were shared as C.Hall (Red Arrows) and A.Grainger (Hunters Moon) both won 18 of their 22 games. The secretaries winner was B.Anderton (Hobs Meadow) who won 17 of the fixtures. Hobs Meadow Mixes won the shadow league.

180’s from G.Roberts and B.Davenport helped Stonehouse to a convincing 6-3 win over Hillyfields in division one of the Harborne 401 Summer League. K.Malin also found the three treble twenties as his team, Hobsons Choice returned to winning ways with a 7-2 win at the Brook.

In division two unbeaten Greenlands maintained their winning run with a fine 6-3 away win at Avenue Social. The divisions top scorers were Bartley Green Social Flights, who returned from the Green Man with an 8-1 victory.

Division three leaders Bugle Horn were in top form. In their home game against Full Moon they chalked up a cracking 8-1 win with T.Walton having a 160 break. The win also extended Bugle’s 100% record.

In a re-arranged Harborne and District Winter League fixture Midland Red kept their hopes of honours alive with a 7-2 win over the Bell. There were two 180’s in the match, one for Bell’s M.James and one for Midland Red’s D.Bourne.

There was a top of the table clash in the Irish Centre Four a Side Ladies League this week as leaders Selly Park took on second placed Northfield. The result was a 15-6 success for Selly Park taking their points tally to 81. As a result Northfield, with 62 points, have dropped to third place, being overtaken by Ward End who recorded a 13-8 win against bottom of the table Perry Barr to give them just one more point than Northfield. Handsworth, like Northfield also have 62 points and also like Northfield lost their fixture, they went down 12-9 to Sheldon.

Vicky Edwards has had a winning run in the Birmingham Ladies Double Top League recently and in match fifteen continued that run with a 3-0 victory over Sheila Smith. However, in the following encounter she took on reigning champion and current leader Joyce Webster. The outcome was a 2-1 win for Joyce who now has a total of 41 points, six more than the chasing pack. Leading that pack is Janet Dudley who had 2-1 wins over Phyliss Larden and Kay Chambers. Behind Janet comes Angie Bourne, Pat Bradshaw and Vicky Edwards who are all on 34 points.

In the Acocks Green Summer League there were 5-4 wins for Journeys End and Langley Hall with Britannia Arrows and Moonraker respectively on the receiving end.
