In the latest premier division fixtures in the Harborne and District Winter League, Midland Red proved to be far too strong for Hillyfields ‘B’ running out 7-2 winners. Helping Midland Red to their convincing victory were M.Hollyoake with a 160 break and D.Kennedy who notched a maximum. Leaders Wernley maintained their push for league honours as they won a close fought match with red Lion 5-4.

A 160 break by K.Whitehouse was not enough to avoid a shock defeat for Village Stump, second in the table in division two, as they lost 6-3 at home to Travellers Rest. Stonehouse, in pole position, had a 7-2 success at the Vine, while Quinborne kept up the chase with a 9-0 win over Highlander Ladies.

In the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League S.Busby (Lea Hall RBL) hit a maximum in his team’s 6-3 defeat at the Iron Horse. EBAHA in their home tie with Stechford Social may have been out tonned, but it was them who got the all important 5-4 result.

Lea Hall Mixed were completely overpowered by the Glebe, going down 8-1.

There were wins for the top three teams in the Warwickshire Men’s Super League. Leaders Coventry Howitzers recorded an 8-1 home win in their local derby against Coventry Bishopgate, giving them a total of 130 points. Nine points adrift of the top team in second place is Bedworth Bank’s who had a vital 6-2 win at Birmingham Midland Red, who are lying in the fourth place. Tamworth are third on 113 points, they gained a comfortable 7-1 home win against lowly Rugby.

Selly Park, champions of the Irish Centre Four a Side Ladies League, rounded off their fixture card with a 16-5 victory over Handsworth to give them a total points of 202. Yet again Lesley Newcombe was the star for the title winners as she recorded top shots of 6×100,2×121 and 2×140. Finishing as runners up with 169 points were Northfield who won their final match 12-9 against Ward End. A further nine points behind Northfield came Sheldon, ending their campaign with a 12-9 win over bottom of the table Perry Barr to take third place.

No change at the top of the Acocks Green Winter League, Tyseley WMC holding on to pole position with a 7-2 win at the Moonraker. Two teams chasing the leaders, Shirkey Legion and Journeys End also had wins, the former winning a close encounter at the Brewers Arms 5-4, C.Okey and D.Duggan both hitting a maximum for the home side, Duggan also recording an eight darts game. Journeys End had a clear cut 8-1 victory in their match at the Tyseley Staff.
