In the premier division of the Harborne and District Winter League, E.Simpson, with a 180, was on form for the Cricketers as they roared to a 7-2 victory at home to Red Lion. Bell Inn won by a similar margin in their home game with the Raven, while Hobsons Choice travelled to Hillyfields ‘B’ and won 6-3.

Bartley Green Social Club keep up the good work in division one, extending their unbeaten with a convincing 8-1 home success over the Plough.

Division two produced some big wins. Leaders Stonehouse maintained their 100% record winning 8-1 away to Stores, The Vine went one better beating Highlander Ladies 9-0 and 7-2 was the scoreline by which Highlander and Village Stump defeated in turn Travellers Rest and Raven Ladies.

Some clearcut wins in the Warwickshire Men’s Super League as both Bedworth Banks and Tamworth recorded 7-1 victories against respective opponents Coventry Bishopgate and Coventry Potters Green. Rugby and Tamworth both lost 6-3 in their away games at Midland Red Harborne and Kettlebrook Tamworth. Birmingham Midland Red ran out 5-3 winners at Birmingham Old Wharf.

Birmingham Central were the top shots in the Warwickshire Ladies Super League, whitewashing their opponents Leamington Sydenham 7-0. Leamington Sureway were not too far behind with a 6-1 success at Rugby and Northfield gained a useful 5-2 win as they hosted Coventry Spencer.

Selly Park continue to lead the pack in the Irish Centre Four a Side Ladies League, their latest success being a 13-8 win over Perry Barr. Inevitably Selly Park’s top scorer was Lesley Newcombe, hitting this week no fewer than 6×100 plus 2×140. Sheldon, in second place reduced the arrears slightly with a 14-7 victory against bottom of the table Ward End, while Northfield kept in touch with the leading pair beating Handsworth 13-8.

Almost an upset in the Forest of Arden Winter League as undefeated leaders Red Arrows gained a last gasp 5-4 win over Hobs Meadow Mixes. The match went to the final game in which Craig Hall (Red Arrows) took on Jan Zimmerman. Hall won the first leg but Zimmerman with a 100 break got the better start in the second. Nevertheless Hall secured his 2-0 win and his teams victory with a superb 142 checkout.

The first round of the league’s Consolation Cup will be played on 15 December, the draw is Sheldon Ivy Leaf v Heart of England, Hunters Moon v Hobs Meadow Mixes, Cornerstones v Highwood.

In the Amber Windows league Old Oscott Social and Red Lion chalked up convincing 8-1 wins over respective opponents Yew Tree and Mitre. Vauxhall Social were close behind with a 7-2 home win over Aston Social. King Edward V11, despite home advantage went down 5-4 to Baggot Arms.
