Stirchley United have already been proclaimed champions of division one in the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League. However they continue to impress and at the same time maintain their 100% record with a 5-2 win at Tascos Social. With the champions silverware sorted the battle is now on for the runners spot and in the latest round of fixtures the two leading contenders, COBS and Selly Oak Flights played each other. The result was a 4-3 win to Flights who now, with two games to play must be favourites to clinch the second place. COBS have completed their fixture card.

In division two, Northfield Conservative Club with a 180 from D.Ehrenfried stormed to a 6-1 away victory over Longbridge Arrows.

The leagues doubles knockout was staged at the Bournbrook and Selly Oak Social Club. Taking the top prize were R.Liggins and Dawn Barber who defeated Dave Underhill and Ann Sweet in the final.

With only two matches remaining in the Acocks Green Summer League the battle for the title could not be any closer. No fewer than three teams, Tyseley W.M.C, Shirley Legion and Brewer and Baker are locked together   at the top of the table on 22 points with only average separating them. a deciding factor could well be that the top two Tyseley and Shirley still have to play each other.

After only two matches have been played in the Irish Centre Four a Side Ladies League, Northfield are the only team able to boast a 100% win record. Following their opening 11-10 success against Perry Barr they chalked up a similar win over Selly Park despite scores of 2×100 140 and 180 from Lesley Newcombe. Although unbeaten Northfield are joint third in the table, Handsworth, who lost 12-9 to Sheldon, and Selly Park are level on 22 points in pole position. Sheldon’s Debbie Flynn was in fine form hitting 4×100, 180 and checking out on 114.

Ward End lost their second consecutive game as they finished on the wrong side of a 12-9 scoreline against Perry Barr.

Northfield have got off to a good start in the Warwickshire Ladies Super League. After a win in their opening game they followed up with a convincing 6-1 away win over Coventry Spencer. Jo Clements (Northfield) hit an amazing two maximums in her second leg against Debbie McPherson. Nevertheless it was Debbie with a 114 finish who won the leg. Jo then recovered and went on to win the encounter 3-2.

The Mercury Ladies Charity team have been out raising cash for the Give a Child Health Fund, their latest exhibition being staged at the Hillyfields where they took on a Harborne ladies team. The outcome was a 5-2 win for the Mercury but it was the charity that got the best result. The evening raised a fabulous £122, the final figure is expected to be in the region of £200.

Winners for the hosts were S.Mullins and L.McDonald, while S.Bailey, J.Webster, J.Clements, J.Liddell and S.Kimberlee replied for the Mercury.

Albion, King Edward V11 and Red Lion all followed up last week’s 6-3 wins in the Amber Windows League with 7-2 victories over Seventh Trap, Aston Social and Vauxhall Social. Old Wharf were also 7-2 winners in their match with Yew Tree while Kynoch Social accounted for Roebuck with a 5-4 scoreline. B.Burns (BagotArms) hit a maximum as his team lost 6-3 to Old Oscott.
