The Sheldon and District Summer League are one game away from the midway point of their season and in division one the three top teams Harvester, Iron Horse Flights and Mackadown Social are all locked together on the same six points and have exactly the same average.

In division two Highwood KB’s are one of only teams in the league to have won all four games and hold a four and point’s lead over both Lyndon Old Boys and Willclare Sports and Social

Yardley Ex Colts, Ridgemere Social and Shirley RBL Misfits all have four points with just average separating them at the top of division three while division four boasts the only other team in the league with a 100% win record Fox and Goose who are on eight points and have a two points advantage over their nearest rivals Highwood Exiles.

Raven have taken over pole position from The Bell in group one of the South Birmingham Summer League after they won 7-2 against C’s Flights and Bell were held to a 4-4 draw by Chelmsley Conservative Club. Raven now on seven points have a one point lead on Bell plus a game in hand.

Just one game in group two which saw The Dog win 6-2 away to The Trident to put them into second place just one point behind leaders Pavillions.

Erdington Members Club maintained their two points lead at the top of group three with a 7-1 win against Coleshill Social but second in the table Mackadown Social went one better by beating their opponents Smithswood Social 8-0 to slightly reduce their average deficit.

Mark Gwalchmai began week three of the Shirley Red Lion Premier League with a hard fought 3-1 win over Lee Harris but then suffered his first defeat of the season at the hands of one of the league’s impressive newcomers Mark Henderson who won 3-1.

Gwalchmai’s defeat opened the way for Steve Sidwell to move up into the number one spot and with 4-0 and 3-1 wins over respective players, new man Karl Wilson and Mikey Harris he went from second to top with 21 points two more than Gwalchmai, after both players have played six games. Third in the table Andy Thomas is also on the same 19 points as Gwalchmai but has played seven games.

There were two 180’s on the night supplied by Jordan Ottley and Mark Henderson while the £5 for the highest finish went to Steve Heeks who registered an impressive 147 game shot in his 3-1 win over Luke Coles.

Match number eight saw CEM West Heath lose ground for the division one title race in the South West Birmingham Clubs League as they surprisingly lost 4-3 at home to bottom of the table Bournbrook, this being Bournbrook’s only win in seven games. CEM have now played one game more than leaders Longbridge United and are four points behind them, Longbridge won 7-0 away to Rubery RBL to take their unbeaten run to seven games and remain the only team in the league not to have lost..

Yardley Wood have gone two points clear at the top of division two after beating second in the table Bartley Green FC ‘B’ 4-3.

With a 4-3 win over Stirchley Nomads, Longbridge Ladies have taken over second place in the division three table from their opponents and are now just two points behind leaders Selly Oak Flights but have played one game more than them.

The Camp Hill League staged their singles knockouts and in the men’s event the honours went to Pete Yardley (Hay Mills Social Club Lions) who defeated Neil Parsonage from Cotterills Lane Club in the final. Losing semi finalists were James Hinkley (Tyseley WMC) and Matthew Cooper (Cotterills Lane Club)

The ladies knockout was won by Laura Caven (Emerald Club) who accounted for Jean Forde (Devil’s Club) in the final. Making their exit in the last four were Gloria Lightwood (Devil’s Club) and Jacquie Francis (Station Wagon).

The Winmau Centre Monday Night League have completed their season, What’s The Point rounding off their title winning campaign with a 35-13 win over Full Monty to finish with a total of 588 points. The Untouchables had a final 33-15 win against Keep It In The Family which saw them finish on the same 534 points and level on average with Just The Tip, however they took the runners up spot by virtue of the fact that they had won 13 and lost 3 to their rivals won 12 and lost 4.

Week eight of the Sheldon Heath Social Club Dukes In House League saw leader Paul Sunner lose for only the second time when he finished on the wrong side of a 2-1 result against Perry Pudge. Despite the defeat Sunner hangs on to pole position with 20 points but is now closely followed by Lee Molyneux who is also in 20 points after a 3-0 success against Adam Plows, however Molyneux has played one game more than Sunner.

The top two teams in the Main division of the Pip Club League Queens Head and Bulls Head ‘A’ (Polesworth) both handed out 9-0 whitewashes in week 24. Leaders Queens Head beat Birchmoor Club to give them 46 points, four more than second placed Bulls Head who beat Royal Oak.

The Winmau Darts Centre in the Wolverhampton Indoor Community Sports Arena are staging knockouts during the close season of the their Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions and the winner of the first knockout was Matt Padgett who beat Steve Gillam 6-1 in the final.

Padgett won his semi final against West Midlands player Mark Craddock 5-1 while Gillam won 5-3 against Justin Evans.

The centre will be holding another knockout tomorrow night with registration up to 7.45pm with an 8.00pm start.

The new season for the Thursday Night League will get underway on 7th September and the big question is will anyone stop Mick Baker making it four title wins in a row?

Only two results from the Forest of Arden Summer League which saw Journeys End Flights win 6-3 against third in the table Highwood KB to see them leap frog their local rivals Journeys End and take over pole position with a perfect score of 14 points from their seven games.

The other game played was a local derby between Highwood Arms and Highwood Exiles in which the former got the close 5-4 verdict.

With only three games remaining in the Kings Norton League leaders Hillyfields ‘B’ took their 100% win record to 25 games with a 7-0 home victory over The Coppice to keep them eight points clear of second placed West Heath who won their home tie with Weoley Hill 6-1.

At the other end of the table there was a rare win for next to bottom of the table Coldstream, a 5-2 success against bottom team Billesley, only their third win in 25 games.

The Fox, who have already won the division three title in the Sutton and District Summer League rounded off their fixture card with a 9-0 win over The Duke to complete their ten match season undefeated, the only team in the league to win all of their fixtures this season.

Two more games were played in division two in which Drakes Drum beat The Boot 5-4 and with a 7-2 scoreline Boldmere Tap won against Pint Pot Flights.

Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club lead the Brierley Hill Monday Night League and in week 20 won a vital game against third in the table Mount Pleasant 7-2 to put them on 32 points and keeping them in the top position on average from Bulls Head (Netherton) who handed their hosts, bottom team Limes Club a 9-0 whitewash.

Mount Pleasant lose their third place and are replaced by Delph Bell who won 5-4 at home against Portway leaving them four points adrift of the two teams above them but with a game in hand.

With Ten Arches ‘A’, leaders of the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League having a bye in week 22 their local rivals Ten Arches ‘B’ took the opportunity to reduce the arrears to just two points with a convincing 8-1 win over the Swan.

Brickmakers Arms lost ground on the title race as they surprisingly went down 5-4 away to Hare and Hounds ‘B’ who are eleventh in the table. Brickmakers are replaced in the number three spot by Gate ‘B’ who won 5-4 at home against Bird (Stourbridge).

A 5-4 win at Fairfield plus with second in the table Riddins Tavern having a bye, Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club took their lead at the top of the Netherton Thursday Night League to 12 points. Riddins remain in second place but are now joined on 24 points by Delph Bell who won 6-3 at The Crown plus they have a game in hand on Riddins.

The Brierley Hill Friday Night League are up to week two of their new season and only a third of the twelve starters are unbeaten. Netherton Cricket Club ‘A’ lead the way their latest 6-1 win over local rivals Netherton Cricket Club ‘B’ giving them a slender one leg of average lead over both Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ and Pensnett Welfare Club ‘A’ who in turn had 5-2 wins over Miners (Wollescote) and Fox ‘A’ (Lye), fourth placed Pensnett Welfare Club ‘B’ also won 5-2 at Fox ‘B’ (Lye) and are a further one leg adrift.

East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association opened up a two points lead at the top of the Small Heath League with an 8-1 win at Emerald Club while second placed Gulp Tribe lost 5-4 away to third in the table Heartlands Club to put them within four points of their opponents.

No change at the top of the Rowley Monday Night League with wins for the top six teams, the Bell remain top after their 7-2 home win over Tividale FC, second placed Ex Serviceman’s ‘A’ won 8-1 at Three Diamonds and making up the top three is Ivy Bush who beat Windmills End 7-2 to leave them eight points off the top and six short of Ex Serviceman’s ‘A’.

A 6-1 win over Ten Arches ‘A’ keeps Ashwood ‘A’ top of the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League on average from Brickmakers Arms who won 5-2 against Stourbridge RBL. Wombourne Cricket Club lost for the first time in seven games going down 4-3 at Ten Arches ‘B’ to see them drop from third to fifth in the table.

As the Black Country Premier League gets underway the early pacesetters are Blackheath Beechers and Brick Ay We who both chalked up 12-0 wins against respective opponents Hounds of Wynall and The HBD to give them one leg to the good on Woodside Poachers who won their game at Mighty Mitre 11-2.

The Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League were engaged with their second division Riley’s Cup and winning through to the next round were, Lee Betts, Ken West, Anthony West, Vince Cooper (Royal), Chris Banks, Richard Mattox, John Newell, Sarah Maybury (Dog and Partridge), Mark Smith, Wayne Reed, Tom Fletcher, James Fletcher (Roebuck), Pete Beighton, Steve Beighton, Pete Beighton jnr, Kev Rigby (Dog and Partridge).

The Tettenhall Wednesday Night League attracted no fewer than 55 entries to its singles knockout. The semi finals saw Simon Pritchard (Riley’s) beat Simon New (ECC ‘A’) and Dave Smith (Bull) win against Sam Guest (Whitmore Reans WMC), the two winners will square up to each other in the final which will be played on presentation night 22nd November.
