Wolverhampton hosts World Trophy darts play-off event

Wolverhampton is to host the playoff for May’s televised BDO £150,000 prize pot World Trophy spectacular.

Several hundred darts hopefuls from all over the world will compete for six final places, four men and two women at the Winmau Darts Centre in the Wolverhampton Indoor Community Sports Stadium (WICS) complex in Racecourse Road, WV6 0QU on Saturday 7th May, just three weeks before the glittering three-day final in Manchester.

Top players from all over the world will be among the hopefuls, joining 16 darts’ elite, who have already gained automatic qualification. These include twice world champion Ted Hankey, a regular visitor to the popular Wolverhampton venue.

WICS manager Dharam Jagpal, commented. “This will be our most prestigious event to date and reinforces our position as one of the country’s top competitive darts venues. We are expecting around 800 visitors for the event. This is a massive boost to Wolverhampton and we can now look forward to other top competitions.”

Entry is £20 and the deadline for registration is April 30th, through bdodarts.com. Further details will be announced by BDO later this week, with other information on wics.org.uk.
