The Sheldon and District Summer League have got their new season underway, the league being made up of six divisions this year. The biggest winners from the opening week were Iron Horse in division four who beat Ridgemere Social 7-1 and by the same scoreline Shirley RBL Misfits won their away game against Emerald Flights in division five.

There were 6-2 wins for Mackadown Social against Marston Green Tavern (DivisionTwo), Holy Souls in their home tie with Sheldon Marlborough Flights (Division Three), Greville Arms who played away to Small Heath Amateur Gardeners in division five and in division six Maggies who won at Ridgemere Rejects.

The Small Heath League are another league that have begun their new season and its newcomers East Birmingham Allotments Holders Association who have set the pace with a 9-0 win over Wagon and Horses, nearest results to EBAHA’s win were supplied by both Mitre and Gulp Tribe who in turn had 6-3 wins over Cob’s Bar and Emerald Flights.

Mackadown Social made it three straight wins in division one of the South Birmingham League when they handed out a first defeat of the season to their visitors St John’s who as a result lose their second place in the table to Punchbowl who had a convincing 7-1 win at The Gate.

In division two Erdington Members Club, who are new to the league this season and St John’s Flights are dead level on points and average both teams having won their opening three games, the latest win for Erdington being 7-1 at Smithswood Social while St John’s won 6-2 at home against The Dog.

Third in the table Coleshill Social lost for the first time going down 7-1 at The Raven but it was good news for Pavilions who chalked up their first win of the campaign when they handed out an 8-0 whitewash to their opponents Kingfisher.

The Winmau Darts Centre will be staging another of their first Thursday in the month knockouts at the Wolverhampton Sports Arena, Racecourse Road, Dunstall, Wolverhampton, WV6 0QU on the 2nd July.

Week five of the Forest of Arden Summer League and in division one Riley’s Red Arrows continue to extend their undefeated run as they recorded vital win in the latest round of fixtures a 4-3 success against Greville Arrows who are their nearest rivals and are now two points behind them and have played one game more.

Iron Horse were the division’s top scorers with a 7-0 win over bottom of the table Highwood KB.

Chelmsley Town made it five wins in as many games in division two with a 4-3 win at Greville Arms but close on their heels are Crown Arrows who had a 7-0 victory over New Inns to keep them within two points of the leaders with a game in hand.

There were big wins for the top two teams in the Brierley Hill Friday Night League as leaders Miners (Wollescote) won 8-1 at Dudley Sports ‘A’ who are bottom of the table and second placed Brickmakers Arms had a 7-2 win away to The Bridge.

Pensnett Welfare Club consolidated their number three spot by beating Netherton Cricket Club 5-4 they drop one place to fifth.

The top two teams in the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League Dewdrop and Old Hop Pole both had 5-2 wins in their latest games, leaders Dewdrop won at Tipton Sports while Old Hop Pole won at home against Sportsman. The gap between the leading duo remains at six points with Old Hop Pole having played three games fewer than their rivals.

After the top two teams comes a gap of eight points, three teams The Vine, Jolly Collier and Sportsman all on 16 points, The Vine having a game in hand on Jolly Collier and Sportsman.

Three of the four games in the Camp Hill League finished with 5-2 results this week, leaders Cotterills Lane Club beating fifth placed Holy Gulp, second placed Scruffy Ringers won at Horses and Lions beat Devil’s Club. The only game without a 5-2 scoreline was that between third placed Journeys End and Wagon with Journeys the 4-3 winners.

Cotterills Lane Club, with 24 points and stay four ahead of Scruffy Ringers who have played eleven games as opposed to Cotterills twelve.

The Bully Boys reduced the gap even further to just eleven points between themselves and leaders of the Winmau Centre Monday Night League The Untouchables when they beat the Not So Far Travellers 37-11 while Untouchables were 33-15 winners against John’s Klan to give them 667 points.

As a result of their defeat John’s Klan dropped one place to fourth and replacing them in their former third place is Misfits following their massive 42-6 win over Here For The Beer giving them a total points of 597, thirteen to the good on John’s Klan.

With just three fixtures remaining in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League only two points separate the top two teams, Ashwood are top with 62 points having lost just one of their 33 games, their latest one seeing them win 8-1 against Bird ‘B’ (Stourbridge). Second placed Ten Arches were also big winners beating The Cat Inn (Wordlsey) 7-2.

Britannia are third in the table and after a 7-2 win against New Inns stay six points behind Ten Arches and six points ahead of Brickmakers Arms who lost 5-4 away to Plough who are some 18 points and seven places behind them.

Kevin Harris has taken over pole position in the Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions League. In the latest fixtures Harris had a 6-1 win over Euan McGovern and then went one better following that with a 7-0 success against Liam Whale to give him a total of 108 points from 19 games, fourteen points more than Kevin Lane who is in second place, Lane didn’t play this week and now has three games in hand on Harris.

Mick O’Neill has moved up the table into third place, he had a 7-0 win against Matt Barnfather and then handed out a 6-1 defeat to Adam Hill to put him on 90 points from 17.

Week seven fixtures in the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League brought together the top teams in the table when newcomers and current leaders Gornal Conservative Club played away to second placed Ashwood ‘A. The result was a conclusive 6-1 win for Gornal to extend their unbeaten run and give them a two point’s advantage over Ten Arches ‘B’ who take over second place after the demise of Ashwood who drop into third. Ten Arches ‘B’ like Gornal were 6-1 winners as they accounted for their hosts The Fox (Lye). Ashwood ‘A’ and The Bell, who won 5-2 at Netherton Cricket Club are also on the same 12 points as Ten Arches ‘B’.

Three games played in the Halesowen Monday Night Ladies League and all three finished with a 5-2 result. Leaders Spring Meadow, with a maximum from C.White won at home against The Widders, second placed Black Horse won at Haden Cross and third in the table Park Lane Tavern beat bottom of the table Hare and Hounds.

In the Captains Cup there were wins for leaders Black Horse, second placed Spring Meadow and Hare and Hounds, Black Horse maintaining their two points lead over Spring Meadow.

John Buckingham has returned to the top of the Crown at Olton Double Top League with a total of 21 points after 3-0 wins over Anthony Daley, Paul Nunn and Dave Duncan, Tony Randell lost the number one spot after only playing two games this week in which he beat Mark Wall 2-1 and Paul Stephens (180) 3-0 to give him 19 points from seven games, one game less than Buckingham.

After the top two there are three players Jason Jennings, Bob Nixon and John Sidwell all on 17 points, Buckingham, Randell and Jennings the only players to have won all of the games so far.

Success for Members Club ‘B’ in the Halesowen Friday Night 501 league as they recorded their first win in twelve games when the won 4-3 away to Hare and Hounds who are two places and eight points ahead of them. Despite the win Members Club ‘B’ stay rooted at the foot of the table as opposed to their ‘A’ team who lead the field with 22 points from their twelve games, their latest win being 6-1 against Townsend. Second in the table The Vine won 5-2 at home to Chop House and although four points behind the top team do have a game in hand on them.

Despite winning 7-2 at Weoley Castle WMC, Court Oak have now gone from joint second to third in the Harborne League as Hillyfields ‘A’ who won their home tie with Bartley Green FC 8-1 have the same 20 points as Court Oak but are now one leg better off than their rivals.

West Heath Snooker Club remain two points ahead of the field, they won their game at Avenue Flights 7-2.

The Tamworth league played off the finals of their Paul Caswell Memorial Cup and the winners were the league’s reigning champions Fox and Dogs who had a final 4-0 win over Dolphin ‘B’.

In the semi finals Fox and Dogs beat Old Liberal House 4-1 while Dolphin ‘B’ had a much closer 4-3 verdict over Sports Bar ’180’

There was a rare success for the bottom two teams in division one of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League as Ashmore Inn won 4-3 away to Wednesfield Conservative Club and with the same scoreline Bradmore ‘A’ beat Chillington Club, both of the winning teams move up two places in the table and taking over at the foot of the division is Merry Boys who lost 6-1 at home to Otter and Vixen, Chillington Club go next to bottom on the same 4 points as Merry Boys.

Wednesfield FC had a 4-3 home win over Village to stay just ahead of second placed ECC on average although ECC won 7-0 against Cabin both of the top two teams have 26 points.

The second division leaders Pheasant beat Boat ‘B’ 5-2 to see the losers drop from fifth to seventh in the table, Pheasant have a two points lead over Whitmore Reans WMC and a game in hand. Fordhouses CC are also on the same 22 points as Whitmore.
