The Netherton Thursday Night League have got their new season underway and kicking it off with a bang were Dudley Ex Servicemen’s Club who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Netherton Conservative Club to put them in pole position.
Townsend Social Club begin the season in second place following their 7-2 win away to Netherton Sports and Social Club and close behind them with a 6-3 home victory against Fairfield are league newcomers Old Hill Cricket Club. In the other game played Spring Meadow beat Bulls Head 5-4.

Sheldon Marlborough maintained their two points lead at the top of the Camp Hill League and made it four straight wins when they won 4-3 away to Tyseley WMC, Tyseley dropping from fourth to eighth in the table. Meadway Social took their unbeaten run to three games with a convincing 6-1 win at Peaky Blinder to move up three places in the table to second, two points behind the leaders with a game in hand.
Aston Inn Nomads, similar to Meadway, have only played three games and they too have won all three the latest of which was a 5-2 home success over New Inn to leave them on the same six points as Meadway and just four legs of average adrift.
Sedgemere Devils had their fixture with Tyseley Newbies cancelled due to the venue being booked, Sedgemere and Peaky Blinder are the only teams in the league without a point so far.

The Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League had the first round of their Memorial Cup on the fixture card. The league’s top two teams The Vine and Dewdrop both had somewhat close 4-3 wins, Vine away to Waggon and Horses and Dewdrop away to Hayes Social. Third in the league Horseley Tavern had a more comfortable 5-2 win in their home tie with Albion, Miners Arms winning by the same margin against Tamebridge.

After their opening 9-0 win over Wheatsheaf ‘B’ in the Netherton Tuesday Night League, Netherton Sports and Social Club ‘A’ had a bye in week two and as a result lost pole position to Bulls Head, who after their 7-2 win over Plough added a further three points to their tally by handing out another crushing 9-0 defeat to Wheatsheaf ‘B’ to give them a perfect six points from their first two games, Kevin Jardon notching a maximum for Bulls Head.
Quarry Bank Liberal Club are placed third, on the same three points as Netherton Sports and Social and like their adversaries have only played one game which saw them win 8-1 against local rivals Quarry Bank Social Club with their Neil Cooper finding the three treble twenties.
Wheatsheaf ‘A’ and The Plough are both on three points but they have played two games.

With Steve Jones not playing a game in week twenty of the Gilbert’s Bar Monday Night League he surrendered his number one spot and fell to third in the table with Martin Price, following his huge 8-0 win over Reece Cook-Lucas, returning once again to pole position.
With 142 points from 18 games Price has a slender one points lead over Alex Howells who has played 19 games the most recent one seeing him win 71 against Lee Quarry, taking up one place in the table to second.
Third placed Jones has amassed 135 points but has a game in hand on Price and two in hand on Howells, he is in a similar position to his nearest rival Ben Johnson who moved up one place to fourth with a 7-1 win over Paul Vaughan to also give him 135 points from 17 games.
At the other end of the table, although Sarah Parker lost 6-2 to Arthur Lubkowski she moved off the foot of the table and was replaced by Eddie Gripton who suffered an 8-0 whitewash by Jon Blakemore. Both Parker and Gripton are on the same 19 points but Sarah has one bonus point compared to Eddie’s nil to put her above him.

The Sheldon and District Darts League AGM is scheduled for this coming Sunday (12th September). The meeting will be held at the Meadway Sports and Social Club, 235 Kelynmead Road, Kitts Green, Birmingham, B33 8LJ and will commence at 10.30am. All teams both old and new are invited to attend the meeting with a view to starting the new season for the Thursday night league in October.

It’s heart-warming and encouraging to see local leagues once again beginning to play darts and there are more to come as the Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League has got back underway, the Shirley and District Monday Night League is starting back on the 13th September and the Kings Norton League is set to begin at the end of September to name but a few.
Hopefully many, many more leagues will also re-start and once again we will return to a full round-up of darts on a Wednesday.
