With the league title all done and dusted the Shirley and District Monday Night League staged a doubles knockout which attracted an impressive 21 pairs and paid out a total of £104 in prize money.

The final brought together Andy Thomas and Phil Thomas who squared up to Andy Hutchings and Vicky Traves with the 3-0 result and top prize of £60 going to Andy and Phil Thomas, Andy and Vicky received £24 as runners up.

In the semi-finals the eventual winners defeated Mick Bown and Steve Sidwell while Hutchings and Traves took out Tom Bent and Mark Henderson.

Phil Thomas collected a further £20 as he had the highest break of 160 and the highest finish of 106 each of them earning him an extra £10.

With the Small Heath League title already wrapped up champions East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association widened the gap between them and runners up Heartlands Club to eight points as in the latest round of fixtures they beat them 5-4, plus EBAHA still have two to play and Heartlands only one.

Sheldon Marlborough Flights, will finish the season in third place, they had a 6-3 win over Wagon and Horses who with 20 points could still be overtaken in fourth place as they have two more games to play as do fifth in the table Cob’s Bar who are on 16 points, but it would mean Wagon and Horses would have to lose both of their games and Cob’s win both of theirs for that to happen.

The Camp Hill League’s new season is up to week three and as early as that only one team, Sheldon Marlborough Flights are able to boast a 100% win record from a starting line-up of nine teams.

Sheldon Marlborough’s latest result was a convincing 6-1 win at Station Wagon, who after playing two games are without a win and lying next to bottom of the table. North Star currently hold the bottom spot, their 6-1 home defeat being at the hands of reigning champions Journeys End Lions who are placed second in the table two points off the top.

With John O’Sullivan not playing in week four of the Shirley Premier League he has dropped from pole position down to fifth place and taking over at the top of the table is Pete Silver who didn’t get the best of starts to the evening as he lost 3-1 to Mark Gwalchmai, however he did make a quick recovery and went on to win 4-0 against bottom of the table Derek Harper and then with a maximum he added a further 3-1 success over Michael Forsyth to put him on 28 points from nine games. Gary Cleverley with two 180’s beat Chris Thomas snr 4-0 and rounded off his night having 2-2 draws with Mick Bown (130 finish) and Brian Lawton giving him 27 points from eleven games and second place in the table.

Third placed Phil Thomas, with a 3-1 win over Neil Comerford took his points tally to 26, just two off the top with a game in hand.

Steve Sidwell was another player not to play this week and he dropped six places to ninth but with three games in hand he could net a total of 12 points to put him on 31 and go to the top of the table.

This week’s fixture night for the Pip Club League saw The Office player Steve ‘Weedie’ Liddle celebrate his 49th birthday, unfortunately for Steve that was all he was able to celebrate as he turned out to be his team’s sole loser as they won 8-1 against Pip Club leaving them two points behind the Combined League leaders Queens Head who won 6-3 at Red Lion.

Queens Head also top the Seeded Division One table with 24 points from 13 games, The Office once again their nearest rivals with 20 points from 12 games. Old Liberal House are top of the Seeded Division Two table, they have a four points advantage over Red Lion, Pip Club and Wigginton Arms who are all on 14 points. Old Liberal House and Red Lion have both played 11 games while Pip Club have played 10 and Wigginton Arms 12.

The top four teams in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League all won in week eight, leaders Brickmakers Arms were the week’s biggest winners with an 8-1 success at Church Tavern while second in the table Ten Arches ‘A’ were 6-3 winners against Bird (Stourbridge), they are the only other team besides the leaders to have won all eight games.

Third and fourth in the table respectively Ten Arches ‘B’ and Britannia are both two points off the top their latest fixtures seeing them both win 5-4 in turn at the Bridge (Kingswinford) and at home against Stourbridge RBL.

The Netherton Thursday Night League played their 3 A-Side Knockout down to the board winners at four venues and winning through to the semi-finals were S.Turley, S.Tromans, D.Shilvock, J.Bland (Fairfield), A.Dimmock, K.Wright, S.Priest, S.Gennard (Bulls Head), A.Tonks, C.Hickman, M.Cooper (Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club), K.Barnfield, B.Neale, J.Sharratt (Riddins Tavern).

The Silver End Sunday Morning League played the first leg of their Main Knockout and Shadow Cups. In the Main Cup Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ had the biggest win of the round a 6-2 success against Netherton Cricket Club, not far behind with 5-3 wins were Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club and Railway who in turn accounted for Glasscutters and Old Star. The Bell and Woodside finished all square at four each.

In the Shadow Cup Pensnett Welfare Club had a convincing 7-1 win at High Acres, Dudley Sports and Portway both won 6-2 in their home ties against respective opponents New Talbot and Three Crowns, Kings Head versus Brickmakers Arms ‘B’ finished level at 4-4.

It was top versus bottom in the Rowley Monday Night League as league leaders George travelled to take on Loyal Lodge and handed their hosts a 9-0 whitewash including a 180 from Steve Gillam to put them on 36 points and keep them top of the table on average over the Bell, who with a maximum from Shane Price won their home tie with Three Diamonds 8-1.

Third in the table Cradley Liberal Club also had a 9-0 win in their game at Hare and Hounds leaving them just two points behind the leading duo and making it three 9-0 wins from three of the top four teams was Ex Serviceman’s ‘A’ who defeated Whiteheath Tavern to leave them a further two points adrift on 30 points.

Other notable individual performances came from A.Richardson 180, Peter Warren 160 break (Ivy Bush) and Jason Lowe 8 darts game (Cradley Liberal Club).

A 6-1 win at Sportsman consolidated Tipton Sports position at the top of the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League taking their points to 38 from 20 games. Second in the table Dewdrop ‘A’ had a 5-2 win away to Wonder to keep them within four points of the leaders while third placed Waggon and Horses had a vital 6-1 win over fourth in the table Island Inn to open a four point’s gap between the two teams.

Both of the top two teams in the Cradley Tuesday Night League, Brickmakers Arms and Netherton Cricket Club ‘A’ won 7-2 in what was their thirteenth fixture of the season, Brickmakers with a maximum from Kevin Bambrick beating Riddins Tavern and the Cricket Club ‘A’ team winning at Chop House to remain four points behind the leaders.

While Netherton Cricket Club ‘A’ were winning 7-2 their ‘B’ side were losing by the same margin to fourth in the table Bulls Head who are level on 18 points with third placed Wheatshead who had a 6-3 win over Roost, R.Lenton and A.Dimmock both hitting a 180 for the winners.

Miners (Wollescote) lost their number one position in the Brierley Hill Friday Night League after going down 5-2 away to Old Star who move up from fifth to third in the table after winning both of their opening two games. Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ go top of the table, they made it two consecutive wins with a clear cut 7-0 win over their ‘B’ team and also on a perfect four points is second placed Netherton Cricket Club ‘A’ who also handed their opponents and hosts Delph Bell a 7-0 whitewash.

The Yeltz Bar Tuesday Night 501 Singles League are up to week two of the second half of their season and taking over the number one spot in league one is Jordan Ward after beating Chris Hall 5-0. With nine points Ward has a two point’s buffer over second placed Mark Bayliss who ran out the 4-1 winner against Tommy Johnson.

Doug Richmond leads league two his 5-0 win over Steph Konya giving him a slender one point advantage over his nearest rival Richard Reed who had a narrow 3-2 win over Lee Eaves.

It’s close at the top of league three with no fewer than four players Alex Adams, Rob Gregory, Phil Harrold and John Simpson all on 8 points, Adams and Simpson in turn winning 5-0 against Rhys Langford and Jordan Shakespeare, while Gregory and Harrold had 4-1 wins over John Stokes and Richard Barrett.

The Forest of Arden Summer League played off the preliminary round of their divisional cups, there were two games played in group one which saw league leaders Journeys End beat Highwood KB 7-2 in a game that had no fewer than 42 three figure scores with Journeys Jason Jennings in top form hitting 7×100,140,123,121 having a 116 finish and also recording a 15 darts game. New Inns also won by the same 7-2 scoreline against Highwood Arms.

Just one group two fixture in which Dunky’s Boys beat C’s Shamrocks 8-1.

Game number twelve for Luis Barberan in the C’s Club Double Top League saw him lose for the first time this season as he slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Jack Nason, however Barberan was quick to recover as in his second game he won 3-0 and hit a maximum against Steve Whatmore. Barberan holds on to pole position in the table with 33 points from 13 games but now has just a slender one point advantage over second in the table Neil Parsonage who won his games against Neil McCrave and Steve Sidwell 3-0, Parsonage in top scoring form as he hit a 180 against McCrave and notched three against Sidwell.

The Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League played their singles knockout down to the last two players at two venues the winners from Gornal Labour Club were Danny Fear (Gornal Labour Club) and Tom Bissell (Old Bulls Head). No results have come in from the Five Ways.

With just one week’s fixtures remaining in the South Birmingham Winter League the main issues have already been sorted as Erdington Members Club have won the division one title and champions of division two are Iron Horse.

In the latest round of fixture Erdington Members Club took their points tally to 32 with a 7-2 win at Banbury Club, while Iron Horse won their home tie with C’s Arrows 6-3 to put them on 26 points.

The Boat took their unbeaten run in division one of the Sutton and District Summer League to eight games with a 7-2 win over Erdington Arrows giving them a two points lead over second in the table Erdington Club who won their home game with Bishop Vesey 5-4, a further two points behind is Golden Hind who won 7-2 against bottom team Red Lion.

A 6-3 defeat at The Boot has seen Pint Pot Flights lose the top spot in division two and drop to second behind new leaders Boldmere Tap who won 6-3 against Old Oscott WMC, The Boot move up into third place on the same 12 points as Pint Pot Flights and fouth in the table Old Oscott WMC.

There was a first win in ten games for Wednesfield Conservative Club in the division one singles section of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League, however they remain at the bottom of the table two points adrift of the team above them Riley’s ‘A’. At the other end of the table Riley’s ‘C’ lead the way on 22 points chalking up their eleventh consecutive win when they won 4-3 against Gilberts Bar, the leaders have a six points lead over second and third placed Bull and Sunbeam.

Wednesfield Legion took their unbeaten run to twelve games in division two when they won 5-2 away to Yale Club giving them an eight point’s advantage over second in the table Royal, Albrighton.

ECC ‘A’, leaders of the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League had a bye in week 12 but at the midway point of the season they Hurst Hill and Bull are all level on 20 points. Hurst Hill took their points to 20 with a 4-3 win away to fifth in the table Cleveland Arms while Bull won by the same margin in a home tie with Whitmore Reans WMC who as a result of their defeat drop from second to fourth in the table, two points behind the leading trio.
