Warwickshire County Darts Organisation will be playing their fourth of nine fixtures in the Premier Division of the BDO Inter County Championships this coming weekend, an away fixture against Lincolnshire. Last season Lincolnshire won the fixture on Warwickshire’s board 19-17 but this year they have not had the best of starts and are currently bottom of the league table some fourteen points behind Warwickshire so the odds could well be in favour of Warwickshire chalking up their second win of the campaign. This coming weekend West Midlands will travel south to take on Cambridgeshire in their fourth Premier Division game in the BDO Inter County Championships and with one win, one draw and only one defeat in their opening three fixtures confidence will be high and could well carry them to their second victory against a team who are currently next to bottom of the table.

The Boat and Royal Sutton Flights remain unbeaten in the first division of the Four Oaks and District League although Royal Sutton Flights needed the last game in their match at The Boot to take the points and the game 5-4. The Boat had a more comfortable 7-2 home win against Drakes Drum.Old Oscott Arrows were 2-0 down against St Thomas’s Social Club but took the next five games to win 5-4.

Division two also produced some close matches with Bishop Vesey inflicting on Red Lion their second 5-4 defeat. Pint Pot Flights came from 4-3 down to beat The Fox 5-4 and Plough and Arrows won 6-3 at Erdington Arrows for their first win of the campaign.

The Oscott Social stay top of the third division with a 7-2 win against Lad In The Lane and Rosey Mac’s won their match 5-4 against a depleted Brookvale Social to double their points tally.

R.Hawker (Royal Sutton Flights), W.Mynard (The Boat) and J.O’Connor (Plough and Arrows) all hit a 180, M.Compton (Old Oscott Arrows) recorded his second and T.Tyrie (The Boot) hit a 170.

Studley Cricket Club handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Beausale to see them take over pole position in the Henley and District League with an unbeaten eight points. Former leaders Studley Conservative Club suffered a 6-3 home defeat at the hands of the Dorridge team to put both teams plus Wharf Swifts, who  won 6-3 at Wythall Legion, on six points, two adrift of the leaders.

It was a good week for Wootton Bears as their 7-2 win against Village Inn was their first of the season so far.

What a week it was for Gemma Barrett in the Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions League as she took on leader Tony Randell who had previously only lost one of his sixteen games and Gemma only won two of her ten games. The result was a 4-3 win for Barrett who then lost 7-0 to Devinder Singh but recovered to hand out the same 7-0 defeat to Liam Baker.

Despite his loss Randell with a further 5-2 win over Chris Manoila holds on to pole position with 91 points a lead of seven over second placed Jordan Ward plus he also has a game in hand.

Will Naylor took his unbeaten run in the Red Lion Erdington Double Top League to nine games with 3-0 wins over both Matthew Cain and Jim Frost to give him a total of 24 points. Dean Bayliss moved up from fourth to second as he kicked off his night with a 3-0 win over Richard O’Grady, beat Steve Cain 2-1 but then fell to a 2-1 defeat against John Frost to leave him three points adrift of Naylor.

Clive Austin dropped one place to fourth as he beat Lewis Bayliss 3-0 and then lost by the same margin to third placed Jim Frost putting Frost on 19 points one more than Austin.

The Shirley Red Lion Premier League played a knockout comprising of four groups with two players going through to the finals from each group.

In the last eight Mark Gwalchmai took out Lee Harris, Paul Higgins beat Steve Heeks, Chris Thomas lost to Sean Talbot and Mikey Harris defeated Mark Henderson.

The semi finals saw Paul Higgins edge out Mikey Harris while Mark Gwalchmai produced the performance of the night against Sean Talbot hitting a 171 score on the way to a 12 darts leg.

Higgins won the first leg of the final only to see Gwalchmai with a maximum take the second. From a 78 outshot Gwalchmai had one dart at double twenty to clinch the title but after he missed Higgins stepped up to check out on double twelve for a very close 2-1 win.

The Kings Norton League staged round one of their League Cup and winning their way through to the next round were Cock Inn, Runery RBL, Grant Arms, E57, Thurlestone, West Heath and Avenue Social who in turn defeated Man on the Moon, Cotteridge, Bournbrook, Weoley Hill, Dingle, Toby Jug and Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club.

East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association took their undefeated run to four games in the Small Heath League but it was a hard fought game against third in the table Sheldon Marlborough Flights which saw them win 5-4 to stay two points ahead of second placed Heartlands Club who were 7-2 winners against bottom of the table Sheldon Marlborough Arrows to hang on to their two points advantage over Marlborough Flights.

Played five won five that’s the record for Erdington Members Club in division one of the South Birmingham League after adding their latest 7-2 win at Pavillions to their count. Second in the table Banbury Arrows went one better with an 8-1 success at The Gate to keep the deficit to just two points.

In the second division leaders Iron Horse also made it five unbeaten games with a somewhat close 5-4 win away to Crown Jewels who are fourth in the table. Second placed C’s Arrows won 7-2 at Toby Jug and remain two points behind Iron Horse with a game in hand.

It was League Cup semi finals week in the Forest of Arden Winter League, the two games finishing with a 6-3 scoreline and both going to Journeys End teams. Journeys End Flights beat Highwood KB and Journeys End won against Greville Arrows to set up a tie between the league’s top two teams in an all Journeys End final.

Misfits with a 34-14 win over Full Monty have a huge 46 points lead at the top of the Winmau Centre Monday Night League, their nearest rivals The Untouchables reduced the arrears slightly as they chalked up a 36-12 win against Keep It In The Family. The biggest win of the week went to third in the table Just The Tip whose 41-7 success against bottom table Unleashed Warrior puts them within five points of Untouchables.

With only ten more games to be played in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League Ten Arches are the two teams who continue to do battle for the title. Ten Arches ‘A’ held on to the number one spot with a 5-4 home win over third in the table Gate ‘B’ while Ten Arches ‘B’ in second place kept within two points of their local rivals with a 6-3 win over Hare and Hounds ‘B’. Gate ‘B’ are now eight points off the top.

Dolphin moved off the foot of the Main Division table of the Pip Club League when they recorded a 5-4 win over Pip Club their first win in five games, Mercian had a bye and drop into the bottom spot.

Three teams are on 10 points at the top of the table with The Office leading the way on average from Queens Head and Birchmoor Club all three had big wins in week six, Office beating Red Lion 7-2, Queens Head winning 8-1 against Kettlebrook Club and Birchmoor recording the biggest win of the week 9-0 against Wigginton Arms.

The Netherton Thursday Night League played off two of their cup finals. In the Andy Bastable Trophy Hill and Cakemore, who finished the season bottom of the table, pulled off a fantastic 5-3 win over league champions Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club while the League Shadow Cup was won by Delph Bell who beat Townsend Club 5-4.

Leaders of the Camp Hill League Journeys End Lions took their winning run to five games with a 4-3 win over Holy Souls to keep them two points to the good on Cotterills Lane Club and Crown Jewels, Cotterills winning 5-2 at Emerald Club while Crown Jewels lost for the first time as they slipped to a 4-3 home defeat by Tyseley WMC.

Dunky’s Boys, Highwood, Red Lion, Cider House and Drawbridge Bears after completing eight games in the Shirley and District Monday Night League are all on the same 14 points. Dunky’s are just ahead of Highwood and Red Lion by one leg of average with Cider House and Drawbridge a further 8 and 14 legs adrift respectively.

After the opening five games in the Sheldon and District Winter League’s season the leaders of the premier division and division one both have a four points lead. Dunky’s Boys top the premier with an unbeaten 10 points their latest win being 8-1 over Highwood KB’s while division one’s top team is East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association who again have won all five games after adding their week five 6-3 win against Sheldon Dukes.

Only average separates Inn on the Green and Yardley Ex Colts at the top of division two as both have won all five games and have a four point’s advantage over third and fourth placed Greville Arms and Ridgemere Ladies.

Premier division leaders in the South West Birmingham Clubs League Longbridge United were held to a 4-4 draw at Rubery RBL but nevertheless hold on to a one point lead at the top of the table while their opponents drop one place to third behind West Heath CEM on average.

A 5-3 win against second in the table Bournbrook has seen Solihull Municipal open up a four points lead at the top of division one but Bournbrook have played one game less than Solihull.

The Ladies Section were involved in the preliminary round of their Benevolent Cup which saw divisional leaders Bournbrook Ladies beat their nearest rivals in the league Stirchley Nomads 4-3.

Miners (Wollescote) were the only losers in the top three teams in the Brierley Hill Friday Night League as they went down 5-2 away to league leaders Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ who stay two points ahead of second placed Netherton Cricket Club ‘A’ after they won by the same 5-2 scoreline in their local derby with their ‘B’ team.

The Lancaster consolidated their number one position in the West Midlands Men’s Super League with a 5-0 win over fifth placed Woodside Inn. Second placed Allens Sports Bar ‘A’ were not far behind as they won 4-1 against Cabin to keep within four points of Lancaster. Third placed and reigning champions Landywood ‘A’ are on the same 77 points as Allens ‘A’ after winning 5-0 against Gilberts Bar.

In the local derby between fourth placed Wilson Bar ‘A’ and their ‘B’ team, the ‘A’ won 4-1.

Champions of the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League Dewdrop completed their season with a 4-3 win at Island Inn which cost the losers the runners up spot as they dropped behind Wagon and Horses on average after Wagon won 6-1 away to wooden spoon winners Hayes Social.

Dunky’s Boys Double Top League took on the Sports Argus Charity team and after going 4-0 to wins from Neil Parsonage, James Hykin, Bobby Nixon and Simon Mountford they stage a fantastic comeback to snatch a well deserved 5-4 victory thanks to wins from Tony Randell, Jake Webster, Luis Barbaeran, Jason Jennings and Pete Yardley who chalked up the vital winning fifth game.

The evening raised £131 which will go to the late Dave Duncan Charity The Skin Cancer unit at QE Hospital.

Riley’s ‘C’ have had their lead at the top of the division one singles section in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League reduced to just two points after losing their home game against their nearest rivals Sunbeam 4-3, they also lost 2-1 to Sunbeam in the doubles section and as a result ousted from their number one spot to be replaced by their ‘B’ team who won 3-0 at Village Inn.
