The Sheldon and District Winter League finished off their season with two cup finals, first the Jubilee Trophy which saw Alan Mayell win the title against Dave Mortiboys with a superb 119 game shot. Mayell had beaten Kris Green in the last four play off’s while Mortiboys took out Jimmy Green.

The Vice Presidents Trophy title went to S.Gardiner by default as the other two players B.Nixon and T.Frost both failed to turn up.

After eighteen games in the Kingstanding Double Top League Pat Koyce and Will Naylor both remain undefeated, the two players met in the latest round of fixtures and as would be expected with the two players vying for the number one spot the result was close, in fact it could not have been closer as it finished all square at 3-3, Naylor recording a 160 break. Koyce then went on to win 4-1 against David Harrison (180) while Naylor had a 4-2 win over Steve Cain. Koyce with 32 points hangs on to pole position but Naylor is not far behind with 31.

The latest round of fixtures in the Winmau Centre Monday Night League produced an absolute feast of maximums with no fewer than seventeen being recorded on the night, an amazing ten of them in the tie between fifth placed What’s The Point and their visitors and league leaders The Untouchables. For What’s The Point Roger Lockley and Shaun Bould both hit three 180’s, while Andy Busby had two and Dan Edmunds one for the away team. The match result was yet another win for The Untouchables, a 27-21 success taking their points tally to 634, however their lead has now been reduced from 33 to 15 points as their nearest rivals The Bully Boys had a more convincing 45-3 win over bottom of the table Make Mine A Double.

The Aston League have completed their season and winning the title by the narrowest of margins was Kingstanding Ex Serviceman’s Club, they finished with 32 points as did runners up Sportsmans Rest the difference being Kingstanding had 123 legs for and Sportsmans 120, just three legs of average separating the two teams. Third placed Red Lion were not far behind as they ended the campaign with 30 points.

Bird ‘A’ (Stourbridge) were the only losers in the top seven teams in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League, they hold on to their fifth place but their 5-4 victors sixth in the table Church Tavern have now reduced the arrears on them to four points. Ashwood hold on to the top spot after beating Kingswinford Conservative Club 7-2 and remain two points ahead of second placed Ten Arches who beat Crestwood 6-3.

The Winmau Centre, Wolverhampton staged the latest of their Thursday night knockouts which saw Derbyshire PDC man Matt Padgett, despite being taken the full eleven legs distance by Warwickshire county player Ashley Hykin come out the 6-5 winner.

Padgett also had a close victory in the semis where he squared up to West Midlands county player Rob Thompson, the result being 5-4, while Hykin had a more comfortable 5-1 success against Kristian Wharton.

The centre will now be staging a knockout at the Wolverhampton Sports Arena, Racecourse Road, Dunstall, Wolverhampton, WV6 0QY the first Thursday in every month so why not drop along test your darting skills and add a little more cash to your bank balance.

A reminder to all darts players that throughout June, July and August Riley’s Snooker Bar, Solihull will be staging a knockout every Friday night for twelve weeks for players to qualify for the Club Champions final, the twelve winners will then do battle for the title Club Champion.

The top four players from each club will then take part in the Riley’s Darts Club Championships National Final on September 5th to produce the Club GB champion!

Each weekly qualifier carries a guaranteed prize fund of £100, the winner receiving £75 and the runner up £25. Players will pay £5 on the night to enter.

The National Final has a separate prize fund of £3140 broken down as follows, winner £1,000, runner up £500, losing semi finalists £100 each, losing quarter finalists £50 each, last sixteen £25 each and last thirty two £20 each.

Banbury Flights are the only other unbeaten team in the division they won 5-3 against The Trident, they have only played one game at present.

In division two just two legs of average separate the top three teams St John’s Flights, Erdington Members Club and Coleshill Social, all three have won their opening two fixtures.

Played eighteen games and just average separates the top two teams in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League, Dudley Sports ‘C’ hold pole position, a 7-2 win at Black Horse helping their cause a little more as their nearest rivals Bridge ‘B’ had a slightly closer 6-3 home win over Roebuck.

Third placed High Acres won 5-4 at Dudley Sports ‘B’ but there were defeats for fourth and fifth placed Rose and Crown (Brierley Hill) and Bulls Head (Netherton) as in turn they lost their home games 5-4 to Bridge ‘A’ and 6-3 to Dog and Lamppost ‘A’.

The second leg of round two of their League Cup was the order of the day for the Brierley Hill Friday Night League the winners being Miners (Wollescote), Dudley Sports ‘B’, Pensnett Liberal Club and Netherton Cricket Club. The game between Netherton Cricket Club and The Bell finished all square at 9-9 after the two rounds but three players were drawn from each team to play each other and the Cricket Club won through 2-1.

A close 4-3 win against Lions was good enough to maintain Cotterills Lane Club’s four points lead at the top of the Camp Hill League, Lions dropping two places to fifth in the table. Second placed Scruffy Ringers had a more convincing victory as they handed out a 7-0 whitewash to their host’s Devil’s Club who are bottom of the league.

Just two results from the Pip Club’s Division One Round Robin League which saw league leaders Prince of Wales win their home tie with Two Gates Club 8-0 and third placed Bulls Head ‘A’ (Polesworth) win 6-2 at Tamworth Motor Spares.

In division two it was a good week for bottom of the table Globe ‘B’ as they chalked up only their third win in 27 games when they won 10-6 against Old Liberal who are three places above them and twelve points better off.

Second placed Pip Club lost ground on leaders J W Belgrave as they lost their home game with Globe ‘A’ 9-7 and now trail nine points behind the leaders.

Apart from Members Club ‘A’ who had a bye the other seven teams in the top eight of the Cradley Tuesday Night league all won this week so the top half of the table remains as you were with Crown ‘A’ and White Horse still doing battle for the title, both on 30 points, Crown ‘A winning their home game against Bulls Head 8-1 and White Horse having a 7-2 home win over Netherton Sports and Social ‘A’.

Week two in the Crown at Olton Double Top League and taking over the number one spot from John Buckingham is Tony Randell after Randell recorded 3-0 wins over Terry Constable and Phil Henderson while Buckingham beat both Tony Steel and Mark Wall 2-1 giving him a total of 13 points as opposed to Randell’s 14.

Close on the heels of the two top two comes a bunch of three players Jason Jennings, Bob Nixon and Mark Wall all on 12 points.

A 4-3 win against Old Liberal House was not enough for Fox and Dogs, reigning champions of the Tamworth League to hold onto ole position as Belgrave Club won their home game with Globe Inn 6-1 and take over the number one spot with 162 points just one more than Fox and Dogs but the reigning champions do have a game in hand on Belgrave.

Victoria lost ground in the division one title race in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night league after suffering only their second defeat in 13 games, a 5-2 home loss at the hands of the Wednesfield FC team who currently lead the field and remain unbeaten with 24 points. Second placed ECC are also on 24 points their fixture saw them win 5-2 at Dog and Partridge.

In division two Pheasant hold on to the top spot even though they lost 4-3 away to Ukrainian Club, but with a 7-0 win at Red Lion, Whitmore Reans WMC have now drawn to within two points of the leaders but they have played one game more whereas third in the table Fordhouses CC, who also won 7-0 away to Wednesfield Legion ‘B’ have played the same number of games as Pheasant and like Whitmore are just two points adrift.
